I have noticed that playing poker has caused me a lot of anxiety, this causes me to drink a lot of coffee a day, does this happen, or do I have to stop playing for a while with poker?

Is it possible that the anxiety is coming from the coffee -- and the poker just enhances it?

As long as you practice sound bankroll management, winning or losing at poker won't be much of a problem.

Doyle Brunson said this, "You must want to win, but not care if you lose".

Maybe the trick would be to cut out coffee, and see if that helps...

Cheers,
VS

If poker causes any inconvenience what so ever, you have to quit, deal with the problem and decide whether you want to get back in it. Poker is not worth any mental, financial or any problems of that kind.

Sorry for very late response, I've read a couple of articles here online and I found that you guys are right, I've tried limiting my coffee intake to 1 coffee a day now. My feelings been better ever since, but not always.

If poker is the cause of the anxiety id say poker isn't a good idea anything that impacts your long term health negatively in that way isn't good for you.

I generally have 2-3 cups of coffee daily.
I've never noticed that it had any effect, other than I like the taste, smell, and the warmth.

I used to be fairly risk-averse, but lately I've been experimenting with some higher stakes since my bankroll can stand it, and find it doesn't worry as much any more.

I think it's okay to be anxious while playing. Of course, increased anxiety does not help anyone to win, so I rarely make big bets. I just advise you to drink less coffee and watch the news, it often causes anxiety.

Anxiety about what?
If you're feeling anxious about losing a buy-in at NL 2, that might just be a mental game issue.
If you're feeling anxious because you need to win to pay the rent this month, that is an entirely different matter.
If you're feeling anxious because your soulmate doesn't approve of poker and is threatening to leave, then it is yet again a different matter.

Each of the above scenarios has a cure -- but they're all different

It’s easy to turn to coffee for a quick boost, but too much can definitely increase your anxiety.

What helped you with anxiety then?

From my experience, vaping NEXA Pro 30000 calms me down. When I'm very anxious I balance it with caffeine, but this rarely happens.

Don't gamble the money you loan or the last money and you will enjoy it.
