I like the way you played it as well. But their check on the river to you shows a lot weakness which makes it a good value bet for you as opabumbi already said. 
I dont see how if you raise the flop its for protection , but i play it the same on flop and turn as you did, if sb wants to fire 3 streets here with an under pair let him , As others have said ez value on the river,
I didnt look at the results FWIW
