No matter what I do, I end up being kicked out on the bubble, one way or another. Either I have the best hand and get busted, am forced to steal with a marginal hand, have a good hand, but hit a monster, or alternatively like this. Could I have escaped from this field of doom? Perhaps I should have folded, when there were already two people in, basically one player out, no matter what. (Unless they tied). But they might be on draws, perhaps slowplaying aces, and in the worst case, I could improve to a full house.

I would push this hand first to act into the BB. Please hide results as it affects peoples thoughts.

If I had stats and CO is limping often then I consider his limp dead money and push anyways.

If I had no stats I would need to have seen him limp just once or twice at a high blind level and
show up with rags at showdown or just limp fold to know he is just loose and pissing away his
chips.

Players like that love to see flops. By pushing you deny him a free flop and he will most often
fold his hand. 89s is a push first in here against BBs stack with your stack size even on the bubble.

Thank you for your input. :)

Yes, usually I go all in against any player who fills in his small blind with no action before him, and has shown a tendency to do so with marginal hands, or pure crap. I am less inclined to do so on the lowest limits however, as there are plenty of people capable of calling with hands you might not expect to see, but still be ahead.

I also altered the results, so that the decks can not be seen.

fold pre flop.

you have <10bb so your only decision is to push pre flop or fold pre flop.

@897: pushing pre flop is a huge spew with the limper. you need top 10% to even consider pushing with this stack set-up on the bubble. not only are you never ahead with 89s, you have minimal FE giving the CO excellent odds on a limp/call. Even without the limper it is not going to be +$EV unless teh BB is very tight (rare in MTT SnGs).

you dont want to get into marginal post-flop spots on teh bubble and you can avoid this situation by either pushing or folding pre flop.

as played: shove flop, the pot is 1/2 your stack and you want to win it now with what is likely the best hand. maximise your FE.

the most basic rule of SnGs. <10bb shove or fold. remember.

Granted this is a MTT and I have little experience here but as I see it,

With his limp the pot is more than 1/3 of your stack at 2400 chips before you or BB act.

If you shove over his limp this brings the pot to 6210 + 1600 for his limp and BB + 400 antes = 8210.

He has to call 8210-800 he allready put in so a total of 7410.

This only gives him 1.1-1.

Now I am very tired and probably should not click post reply on this one because there is a good
chance I am missing something obvious here.

But I would shove this first in SB vs BB and a HBL will fold here very often IMO. Its unfortunate BB
had 55 in this scenario and would snap call if he had any brains but I dont think BB is calling wide
enough for this to be bad.

Wizard says BB has to be calling more than 28 percent for this to be a fold Pre BVB.

odds are a little off.

villain will have to call 5410 into 8210: 1.5:1

BvB its a close spot. probably a decent push, but you cant just open push a BvB range because you tihnk the limper will limp/fold, problems are 1. you are now up against 2 ranges, the limper range (which is not a random range but skewed to the top end of hands), and also the BB range (random range). This coupled with your relative chip position. (not the shortest stack) on the bubble. means you have to be a lot tighter here than you are BvB.

not to mention the odds you lay the limper. (not quite 2:1 but pretty close).

think of it like this situation in a STT.

you are mid stacked in the SB, CO has 1bb less than you. BU limps and is big stack, BB is big stack. you cant open shove your SB range here due to the extra probability of the limper calling you as well. same spot here just magnified in a MTT SnG

I knew I was going to f up somewhere and yeah 6210-800 he put in so 1.5-1.

I see what you are saying.

It's just hard to walk away from such a huge gain uncontested preflop every time an HBL folds here.

I got to work on this leak. Thanks.

the play works best with a bigger stack and a non-bubble situation
