yeye, luv you too tom
Have you ever tried 2-tabling normal FR games? ♦ I would barely manage 250 hands/day. It's not that I can't play A-game on more tables, but atm I'm playing on a laptop and it's almost impossible to 4-table and still see cards and stats. I do have a desktop PC but the 17" monitor is not of big help.
I'm not saying I will play Rush forever or anything. For now, it suits my situation the best out of all other variants. I get volume (a bit of RB whoring, Iron Man), steady winnings (maybe steady is not the right word because we are talking about poker after all) and soft opponents.
I agree with you that the overall learning process is not very good with Rush. I still join coachings and watch videos, read articles/books. And as soon as I can get my hands on a decent monitor I will start playing normal FR to work on my "exploit the player" game.
Btw, winrate in terms of bb/100 might be higher in normal FR but it's hard to match the hourly in Rush without playing ~6-8 tables.
For now, what I want to achieve is to make poker my part-time job. This means that if by the end of the year I will be able to withdraw ~$300/month I'm there and I can focus on moving to mid stakes, getting private coaching and so on.
hm, okay
Until the end of the year there is not much time though unfortunately ![]()
And I would say, you should be very very glad if you are even on NL50 by then, and to withdraw 300$ on NL50 monthly and at the same time building a bankroll is pretty hard imo ![]()
I am not saying this to be mean or negative, I'm just saying it because it's true. If there is anything I can do to help, don't hesitate to ask though.
I wish you the best of luck, and I shall follow with interest.
xx

I'm not necessarily going to withdraw it. Think of it as a bank deposit where I get $300 monthly interest. If I need money that's MOST I can withdraw from there if I still plan on playing poker seriously (keep the monthly interest at $300). If not, I'll leave it there so I can get bigger interest in the future. I think you understand where I'm going with this, right? ![]()
@jb: Yeah, but then I would still need to play very tight ABC poker. I wanted to give that a try when I used to play SNGs though. ![]()
LE: I want to learn Stud, Razz and Stud-8. If the first video had been Razz I would have said: "First Razz strategy video from RT. Wooohooo!".
haha oh yea that makes more sense
I thought you wanted to withdraw 300 monthly as of end this year. ^^
It's 2AM 31st August 2010. I will use this day and hour to post the closing post of what has been my Summer Blog. I'll start with the final update of the month on NL10 FR Rush.
This is my graph for this limit. Not bad but not as best as it could be.
Now, let's wrap it up. I started this in the middle of June with a lot of goals and very excited. I wonder how that went...
:diamond:Play poker: Yeah, I sure did. Of course, I started out with SNGs but ended up with NL BSS FR Rush :f_biggrin:. Initial BR was $150. I made a bunch of tilty/spewy plays, yet I'm glad to say I now have $325 in my FTP account. Yes, it could have been more. And yes, it could have been less. The more I improve my tilt resistance and the more focused I am on what I'm doing the bigger the winrate, naturally. All in all, I'm happy to say I've really made great progress as a poker player. So far I've read Phil Gordon's Little Green Book which is OK. Then The Poker Mindset helped me a lot with tilting (any kind of tilt) and focusing and some realistic goals concerning my future "poker career". Last, I read Easy Game Vol. I... TWICE! Why? Because it explains basic strategy very well and I felt I need to read it more than once to really assimilate all the info. I'm gonna start on Vol. II soon. I just have to pass through another important phase of my life: driving school!
Then I can start reading poker material with no distractions.
:diamond:University admission: This goal had 2 parts: The BAC exam and the University admission exam. BAC was basically crap and I even posted how revolted I was and how I want to move to another country if I get the chance. I still do. In the end I was "saved" by my admission exam score and I got accepted, no problem, thus goal was completed.
Health and sports: Well, you can't really be perfect, can you? The only sport was some ping pong and, starting in August, some push-ups and ab crunches in the morning. I wish I would have played a lot of football but my friends are lazier then me and also cheap. They didn't want to pay to play on a good pitch. As for my bad eating habits: I still have lots but never really tried to change anything concerning this. Will leave it for another time...
Biggest achievements of the summer:
Beat NL5 Rush
Won a hoodie in the Evaluation Forum Promotion
Doubled BR
>40k hands/month since starting NL BSS.
Iron Man Silver on first try
Accepted to my first choice of University
Made some new friends, interested in poker, who are willing to help me and whom I'm willing to help too.
Don't think you are now rid of me. Look out for a new, permanent blog on 1st September 2010. I can say that will be the start towards my semi-pro career. More details on that in OP of the future thread.
Thank you all that have followed and helped me out! If there is any Moderator reading this, the thread can be closed.
So long summer!
:diamond:Manu.
