That if anything will destroy your confidence completely

abs this
u have ntg to win (monewise and also, even if u prove to be winning- okay.. wasnt that just expected of sb almost be on NL200?) and everything to lose (if u dont win at NL25- u re gonna lose the last selfrespect and prolly just quit with poker for some time. the adjustments are different-plrs are weaker, u have to play differenly -> it will also destroy ur own game!)
i honestly dont understand what /why u re doing but its soooo wrong.
its like Isildur said to himself, ok, so i am losing at nosebleeds, lets prove that i can still beat NL1k.. i mean.. u get it!? he is losing, but everybody can see what he s been through.. everyone is going to stake him even if he was total busto. The same for u.. if u dont need the money immediately, so there is ntg like: okay, lets find another immediate way of earning it rather than NL100-200 be stretches, so u d grind ur whole week on NL25, i d undertand that. But u dont need that.
this is the most ridiculously bad thing i ve ever seen any halfserious poker plr doing honestly, and i dont want to let u down, but its very unlikely i d be willing to coach sb with such selfdoubts.
its easy:
1, u realize who u are , where are u- (to me): u re a decent NL100 winner who is sofar unable to beat NL200 mainly coz of having some mental issues. from the coachings we had i understood u couldnt rly get outside of the money perspective too much and most of the times u were overexcited in big pots or disinterested in smaller ones which is one of the crucial diff betw a recreational and pro plr, maybe some other, like: u deffo have a lack of math understanding behind some moves, all the explanations of ev calcs we did were prolly too quick for u.-my mistake. Also u have quite low exp still- just remember u were a FL plr not far ago and most of ppl on ur limits have played many times more hands of NL than u.
2, when u admit to urself where u are, u set ur goals strongly but realistically. Now ok, u re prolly not going to be a Nl1k winner within a half a year, so just leave it for later, for the love of god. why dont u? Forget it! think positive abt what u can do realistically instead. Set urself sth like:
NL200 winner till the end of the year. and potentially NL400 shots from january or sth like this. U dont even have to plan much more forwardly. Just focus on the next hurdle. Concentrate. fully. on THAT.
3, when u know what u want - make a schedule for it so that u ll get the most of urself both mentally and physically to make it happen. U want it rly BADLY? just f go for it! (this means fe: dont play 2h sessions- make it count instead! try to play more and more and push ur boundaries until u know its not good anmore. this is ur job, u have ntg else to do, u re like a pro athlete trying to get to the Olympics, u can put as much time and effort and creativity into it as u can. Make a diary, set the times for playing/ analysing/ physical excercise.. everything. experiment. in poker, u re by far ur biggest coach u ll ever have- u have to keep expermenting on ur own. Also u can make a break whenever u can and feel like it ofc.
4, when u achieve what u wanted u return to step 1.
Going to NL25 in ur position is like sb who just got fired from uni saying to himself : "oh, fuck, i am such a failure, i cannot graduate uni, its boring and cannot go through it" and goes to apply for a primary school just to reassure himself he can still read and write.. and when u make more mistakes in a spelling gramatical excercise than an 8year old? u go and kill yourself, ?

i ll say 1 more thing for all ppl who are in doubts abt these lims (and love skating):
watch this vid: (not so good if u dont like skating, but still watch it):
and one other: u can achieve anything if u rly want to, if u just outwork the rest. eventually, no matter how talented anyone is, the things u can make stick to ur subconscience will prevail.
who are NL100-200 plrs? most of them are students, many other have normal works playing during evenings when tired, and some are weak hobby plrs or gamblers aka fish. I dont feel qualified to give an accurate guess, but for sure less than 1% of all these plrs treat poker as their main profession. (many of those will treat it as their main source of income obv-thats just not the same!) U see, 99% of ur daily opposition either doesnt have the time or simply doesnt want/care to put more serious effort into the game.
If u like sport u can find so many inspiring vids on the internet abt professionalism. Its just the whole way u live. Winning is no coincidence in anything. These ppl train sick amount of hours on all the small details they can, they have usually big group community behind them to encourage them, they have few training partners, they have personal coaches, usually separate for workouts and more like advisors/mental cheerup-many times like a father from family who travels with them everywhere.. simply everything is linked.
now u might think, hang on, poker is not a sport, is it? what s ur definition of a sport?
Travis Steffen, a poker performance coach, provides it like this: sport is, when ur physical and mental elements influence actions in such a way it effects whether u win or lose. (ofc- do u think tennis is just abt the arm movement and running or do the plrs always think abt where they want to put the ball so that the other guy has to uncover more space on a different part of a court, what do they think during serving? do u think boxers just come to the ring and start brainlessly punching or they have the guy anlaysed and know exaclty his weaknesses? do u think hockey players just go out there, skate and hit randomly, race after pucks until trainer calls for them to make a line change or they are perfectly trained to work as a team exactly knowing at everytime who has which roles and how to mathc these with what the opposing teams strengths/wekanesses are? .. and why is snooker/golf/curling considered a sport and is so much broadcasted lately on eurosport?
comon! poker IS 100% a sport!
.. soon after u fully digest this u as well instantly after realize that any professional spotsmen is always going to just crush any hobby plr to pieces , similarly as Usain Bolt will outsprint me no matter what, as Mike Tyson will knock me off in few seconds no matter what, as Federer will beat me twice 6:0 no matter what..
By the same merit, when u see Durrrr vs Isildur or Jungleman HU matches and u think: omg, sick talent!.. think twice! .. why do u think Isildur dares to play 8tables HU simultaneously vs Durrrr/Ivey/Antonius .. is it just because he is getting bored and has big ego or becuase he honestly believes that he has analysed these situations so well he already knows everywhere what to do against what player types? .. he just cracked and his ego devoured him, but when u watch any nosebleeds games its so obv ppl are playing quickly coz they are confident in their games so much that they want to play as much as they can as soon as they can so that their skill edge gets paid off..
sofar, we know quite little abt Isildur except that he earned all his money somewhere on smaller platforms and then rise and fell down on FTP. Dwan is playing bigstyle already from 2005, he has put enourmous no. of hours into poker, he has friends like Galfond.. who he has analysed a ton with. Jungleman is a geeky kid who has been doing ntg else all days when returning from school than playing /analysing poker.. has already almost a mil hands just tracked on FTP from mid08 and almost solely HU- this is rly hard to put it! HU- he is experienced as none other on this planet in HU NL even though he is just 21, but he is already concentrating on this for 2.5years more intensely than anyone..
its always abt the same thing: some ppl will put that time in and do it, some ppl wont.. some ppl will outwork the rest and so they become the best.
and yea, i am a lazy bastard for last 2days that's another reason i am writing all this to myself as well.
Well said.
