I personally think a break is good from time to time, in anything but particularly in poker.

I think people are being overly critical of him. It's clear to me that Conall is saying that he wants to focus on other things that he thinks will give him a better return, ie studies, work etc.
From that I'd assume that he isn't enjoying poker as much as he'd like, and that the money he makes from playing poker doesn't compensate for his dissatisfaction.
My suggestion would be to focus on other goals, and try to improve your poker on a part-time/recreational basis. Sure you probably won't reach your maximum potential, but you're also less prone to burn-out and you might actually learn to enjoy it.
Lol at people trying to convince you not to quit.
poker is just one (very wierd) thing to do out of a gazillion. quitting it is most likely a good idea on many levels for 90% of players, though they don't want to realize it.

Poker is and should always be for everyone a hobby. A hobby that can gives you money as a bonus.
I used to be an hardcore gamer (SC, CS, etc.) before I found out about poker. Then I realized, why grind playing games that will give me nothing for 2 hours per day while I could be playing poker and gaining money.
Now if you only think about $$$ poker will be boring eventually. I have a lot of love for the game and ive been playing online for 4-5 years online on and off and I am always happy everytime I do (except for that time I tried to grind superturbos, oh man that was making me crazy)
Now, if you spend that 2 hours per day plying WoW or CS I will fucking smack you on the face, but if you start learning a sport, doing football or kung-fu then it's a pretty wise decision for your future.
+EV long term for sure. Specially if you are able to get a good job later on.
My suggestion is to play live from time to time and MTTs online to remember the "fun" feeling of poker. Don't take it serously anymore....
Or just quit it all together and invest your time and something +EV for real life long term. (Unless you think you can become a pro ;))

@ihufa, ty. its not like my life will end tomorrow either. I can always come back later. I like the game, so I'm sure I will, but for now, exploring other stuff is probs the way to go.
