Also, why wouldn't you want to push your opponent off their hand or get them to call with AK or AQ? With that connector you could easily be up agains AJ or J10 so straights are a concern no?

minraising is just stupid unless you are doing it because of a short stack acting after you.
Your hand has a certain value before the flop and a different value on the flop, firstly you dont want to give people good odds to call. Like if you minraise from utg and show me the aces by accident im calling any2 from the BB to hit my 2pair and stack you.
Secondly if you minraise and then 4bet...I mean thats KK+
And ofc you want to build up a pot with a good hand and not have a small mutiway pot with these hands imo.

I agree, but there is Full Tilt Poker Academy challenge by Chris Ferguson which says open min raise from UTG, 2.5x bb from МP and 3x bb late hands like 88+, AQ+. Don't really like it, but it's about mixing your bet sizing and it also says that any UTG raise is a strong raise.

It depends what limits you are playing. Micro players call with anything so i don't think a UTG min raise will cut it.

0,02/0,05 No-Limit Hold'em (7 handed)
Hand recorder used for this poker hand: Elephant 0.90 by www.pokerstrategy.com.

Preflop: Hero is BU with J, J
MP1 raises to $0,10, 3 folds, Hero raises to $0,40, SB folds, BB calls $0,35, MP1 folds.

Flop: ($0,92) 9, 9, 9 (2 players)
BB bets $0,5, Hero raises to $1,44 (All-In), BB calls $0,94.

Turn: ($3,80) 6
River: ($3,80) Q (2 players)

Final Pot: $3,80

Results follow (highlight to see):
Hero shows (Jh Jd)
BB shows a full-house, nines full of queens (Ks Qh)

BB wins with a full-house, nines full of queens (Ks Qh)

He was getting a little more thań 3 to 1, so if he put you on a pair between 22-JJ he was getting the right price to call imo.
And he also had a chance of putting you on tilt.

I think this challenge is for full ring? Personally I raise 3x from any position with any hand, but I play 6max.

And about the minraise - I mentioned it was a misclick like 3 times before, but yeah who the fuck cares, again...

+1
But if there's a huge fish in blinds i might raise even like 5x with a big hand. :f_cool:

Personally i think opening 2x from UTG in full ring is total bs. Say you play at like NL5 FR. What happens if you open 2x from UTG? You get 5 callers. Since your opening range from UTG should be very tight, do you want 5 callers? No.
Honestly one of my least favourite spots when i used to play was having five callers who have a position on me when i opened with aces from UTG.
I'd say it should be more like 4x from EP, 3x from MP and 2x from LP for FR..

Actually it is for FR, it says in hand with 8 or 9 player. But never mind I saw you wrote it's a misclick and I personally would never min raise UTG. Like Alficor said you don't want 5 callers and that challenge is opposite from what I've learned so far, raise big early and small late.

About your hand, maybe he tried to float you and that got lucky, but I don't think his float has much sense. Just think how much money he will donate to you whit that kind of play in future and keep your A game.

Ahh lets forget that hand, it's already analyzed from A to Z

More interesting thing are these preflop raise sizes imho. I don't play full ring, but I think I would perform *facepalm* every time I would get AA being UTG. But I still believe it's better to raise more from early positions unless you want to see the flop together with more than half table. Alficor1 got a good point there.
