I didn't have any reads in this hand, but figured I would call the raise and then go all-in on the flop - Your thoughts please; fold, all-in or ok?

you basically called preflop 1/5 of your stack, out of position with ato to a MP raise. you then shove air on a drawy board. IMO fold preflop. OR shove preflop (but fold is much better).

you still have 25BB after the flop so check/fold.

you should post in the MTT section as more mtt specialist are there.

Sorry for the wrong section, could some admin please move?

Thank you for your reply, I guess you confirmed what I allready suspected, which is fold/shove preflop in the mentioned order.

I am trying to find the right balance between LAG and TAG and the correct timing for switching between them, but I would certainly like to do it better. Maybe I am low on patience, but I am also very reluctant to blind away with no fold equity, so I aim to open up a bit when blinds increase.

In this hand I realize, that since I allready decided preflop, I should have pushed rather than just call.

Hey Doc,

We got clear that is definetly a push or fold situatio. I personally think it is a clear fold. For this choise a have some strong arguments:
1.Look at the blinds...I mean you have planty of time to play other hands and not investing you chips in such a bad spot.
2. A10os very marginal hand especially out of position.
3.I mean you re original idea is great but if you want an advice you wanna mix you game be patient. I mean playing LAG poker with having a lot of success is really a big knowledge. So if you re gonna play LAG play in position. I personally love 7s5s on the CO or BUTT.
4.In this tournaments there are not a lot of people that know the value of a 3bet so stay alert.

Good Luck

Hey MoneyGirl,

I guess you're right - practically you're saying the same as everton, but since I am a bit dense I need to have things repeated to get it (your point # 1 and 2).

My big mistake here is probably playing out of position, trying to make a "move" that might not have the desired effect at these levels (your point #4).

I really like what you are saying in the 3. point - if you want to play a certain style, play it right! And I wasn't!

I played 5 tourneys last night (45 and 90 man 1$) and ended out of the money in each and as I sat afterwards thinking about my play, I realized I wasn't playing very well indeed. I was practically card dead, which is one thing, but in stead of making some moves in good spots, I more or less buried my self with blinds and antes until I had to make a desperate attempt at some point - the exact situation I didn't want to end in.

I think I will try to stick with the 45 man 1$ tourneys until I feel I get a better feel for the timings.

Best regards

Hi all,

TAG is right at the lower stakes always except... in no situations, just always ;). Anyway same as everyone above: push or fold preflop, folding is best.

Hi Chenny,

Thanks for the input - I think I am convinced now :f_grin:

So TAG is best - until what levels?

And LAG doesn't work because ... other players are too loose or ?
