In a sense. The bible invites us to "enter into God's rest". To put it as simply as I can, the rest referred to is not simply a release from work. It is a change from tiresome, purposeless labour, to joyful service that honours God.

There are 2 problems with this.

1) The method of dating, (typically carbon-14), is potentially only accurate to around 4k years or so. Attempting to date items much older than this pivot around the huge assumption that atmospheric conditions have been constant throughout the earth's history (and therefore the half-life of the isotope has also remained constant.)

2) Pretty much all "human" fossils supposedly pre-dating 6k years are of questionable origin. And by this, I mean they could easily be homonid fossils, yet not homo-sapien. Scientists often blur the distinction; they are all supposedly natural developments in the same evolutionary chain after all.

The bible allows for the existence of animals indefinitely far back in history, so a 10k year old fossil is nothing that surprising.

did you just say evolution?

Yes, evolution. A well-known "scientific" theory, that does not harmonize with the bible. (Or the fossil record for that matter)

I'm sure you've heard of it.

No biologists have found the fossilrecord to do anything but strongly prove the theory of evoultion, only christians find it to be incomplete?? And by incomplete I mean there's never been found a fossil that wasn't in line with the evolution theory, the only problem is we can't find them fast enough.

Evolution is portrayed to the public as indisputable fact, when it's anything but that. I recommend you do some research and make up your own mind.

Scientists are human beings like the rest of us and often let pride interfere with objectivity. Some great things have been done in the name of science but it takes discernment and humility to fully appreciate where the boundary between science-fact and science-fiction actually lie.

I discuss the fossil record in some length in this thread here. It might be worth glancing over my posts if the subject interests you (or anyone else). I reference various scientific journals and also quote extensively from Darwin's own book "Origins of the Species". (And sorry you will have to scroll through the thread to find my posts which appear throughout, but there is far too much information to retype in this thread)

To get you started, here are two interesting questions.....

1) If the fossil record clearly demonstrates the gradual development of species, why is there the more modern "punctuated equilibrium" theorem regarding evolution? ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punctuated_equilibrium )

2) Why is there a huge explosion of life in the cambrian-era and no gradual development of species prior to this time (as Darwin predicted there would be)?

It's very difficult to find evidence to fit a theory that isn't science fact, but rather, science fiction. Naturally, scientists have to be extremely selective about which "evidence" they use.

no they don't cus they're not trying to disprove christianity or prove evolution. They're just trying to find the theory that agrees with everything we can observe

I think you'd be surprised.

There are a lot of scientists who would simply love to disprove the bible and actively try to do so.

There is actually a huge information war going on, it's just that many are blind to it.

If in the western world one is 'expected' to follow the bible's word, then surely it's for the Bible to prove it's worth, not for the scientists to disprove it or not?
Also, people aren't 'blind' to such things, and implying such naivety or/and ignorance in a perceived non-seeing person is an arrogant stance.

Science fiction is often just science fact that hasn't happened yet by the way.

Anyway, I'm not dissing you or anyone else's opinion, I'm not that clever; just my 2c worth contributed is all, even though I do know a little about the Cambrian and suchlike.

Oh no, I'm a fish in this to? Sigh.

I agree, although naturally that would involve actually reading/studying the bible. If the bible is the word of god it should harmonize with science perfectly. And for the most part it does.

In the linked thread I give reasons why I do not believe evolution to be a valid scientific theory since it does not conform to the "scientific method".

In no way am I implying naivety. It there's one thing for certain, it's that this is definitely not a simple matter. Great perception is required to see through the large amount of misinformation out there.

.

Well, take a look for yourself! That's all I'm encouraging people to do! Don't believe something just because "scientists say". Perhaps you'd like to answer the two questions I posed, or check out my longer posts in the linked thread.

Best thing this thread has produced :f_thumbsup:

Bottom line is there is some evidence for the theory of evolution whereas there is no evidence for an omnipotent deity.

Some > None

That's fine, because I didn't actually write any of those posts either =/

I guess the cat got into my room and random probability took it from there.

Well at least your cat is tangible which makes it (kind of) believable. Unless its an invisible cat :f_eek:

Btw an argument that life is unlikely - is not a argument for god. Because then you get into how god would have been made, and how likely is that? Was it by random chance that god was made? :f_eek:

Nope, God has always existed. Which might sound hard to fathom, but then, time didn't exist until God created it, so that's far less of a conundrum for our finite minds.

The very fact we are here demonstrates that something unlikely happened in our past. Perhaps it's just a question of which is the most likely.

You would never assume that my previous posts had no author and were the product of random chance. Why? They look strongly as if they were designed. When you consider our universe in depth you see the same.....yet we are to presume it is the result of random chance?

The bible also constitutes proof of a creator. It is historically, scientifically, and prophetically accurate and is ultimately far more useful in determining the truth about our origins than wild speculation on a subject we do not have the ability to comprehend.

There is now very strong proof of extraterrestrial presence in the sky (and maybe even on the earth too); is it possible they carry many answer to all about? Can be that truth too dangerous for the power on the earth so they deny the contact? :)
