i can imagine it shouldn't be very different though, as far as i know, they use e-wallets like moneybookers and neteller as well.

Though I agree that we are usually not far behind the US in terms of policy I don't think it will happen this time.
Poker is much too small an issue for the Canadian government, even if a law styled on the uiega?? was introduced and passed enforcement would be unlikely, it took the US years to do anything.

And as for stars cashouts I would just do a check, best bet IMO

Perhaps poker is a small issue, but gambling in general is huge.
Already in BC the BC Lottery commission has a site where you can play poker online -- but the lowest blinds are out of my league $2/$4 was lowest last time I looked.
Some sites already block Canadian players. Why? Apparently because the rights to use the software in Canada is held by the government.
It would be a tragedy to have country-restricted poker like in France.
As long as the gov't can get an income from the poker activity of Canadians, they will.
