Well, the reason why I would consider betting here is that we definitely have fold equity here but as well we have a lot of backdoors with our hand. Plus with betting we gain free card for us while we can decide what to do on turn most likely.
But of course it can be opponent depend as well here. What kind of calling range he has, what kind of habits he has postflop and stuff.
