Made a short break after an hour, and when I returned owned the tables hard. Ended up 41.5$ for the day (~600 hands). Won most of my money of the same guy from earlier. Obviously ran very hot too.

This is a hand against a tight, almost nitty player.

Poker Stars $1/$2 Limit 5 Card Draw - 6 players - View hand 1501582

Pre Draw: (1.5 SB) Hero is UTG with Q :spade: 6 :club: 5 :club: 4 :club: 3 :club:
Hero raises, MP folds, CO 3-bets, BTN folds, SB folds, BB folds, Hero calls

First Draw: (7.5 SB) (2 players)
Hero draws 1, CO stands pat
Hand: 7 :spade: 6 :club: 5 :club: 4 :club: 3 :club:
Hero checks, CO bets, Hero folds

Final Pot: 3.75 BB
CO wins 3.625 BB
(Rake: $0.25)

I don't beat anything except a bluff, and I've seen no such thing from this guy. Hoped for a straight flush really (after reading that you guys didn't get any).

I try to play unexploitably, which means bluffcatching with the top of my range, so against an unknown I call here. Even if you're not trying to play unexploitably, the mean pat hand is AKQJT, so you are ahead of 12.5% of his range (you have more blockers for hands that beat you than hands that don't, so I won't make an adjustment for that). The pot is laying you 4.75 to 1, so you need to be good 21% of the time. Therefore, if he's snowing at least 10% of the time, you have a call. One in ten isn't very often, so I'd say it's quite a close decision.

Hey man, welcome to my blog :) I don't know about pokerhands, mine still works normally. Try deleting it and downloading it again. I suppose if you connect to the same database you'll still have your hands.

About the hand. The guy played something like 10/7, or something like that. Against a normal reg, I'd consider calling, but probably wouldn't do it. All pat hands beat me (ok, except A2345), and I'm just not sure people bluff often enough to make calling here profitable. Maybe I'm still lacking in experience, and will give this some more thought.

Just played the most god awful session of poker in my whole "carrier". Absolutely no focus, I was spewing right, left and center. When you add to that being card dead, you get the gravity of the situation. At one point I discarded capped pre-draw with AAAKx, and discarded one of the aces

As it turns out, I only lost about 20$ or so. I must have forgotten about the start of the session, when I won some. I swear, when those two guys yesterday improved from pair to full house, I didn't care. But when I discarded that f**king ace, I don't know how my laptop survived it. After that, I should've just quit, but I kept on spewing. Lesson learned, I hope.

I got back an hour ago, and tried to find tables, but no action on 1/2$ and tables constantly braking up at 50c/1$. I might just call it a night, cause I'm pretty beat anyway. As I see it, there's more action in the mornings/early afternoons than in the evenings. Russians?

I so rarely have anything to brag about that I feel obliged.

I already offered to sweat you for $0 per hour. :f_biggrin:

I just might take you up on that one.

Played 500 hands or so just now, and lost again. It is just that stretch of bad cards and bad/tilted play. My bankroll is obviously still solid, but my confidence is shattered. So, I'll move back to 50c/1$, to rebuild it.

Before that, I'll review all the hands I played at 1/2$ (~2k), and see how exactly did I lose my money. Well, not lose, but not win any.

Just had the weirdest session ever. Played 1/2$ again (decided that confidence is bullshit and that I should play through the pain), and dropped 25$ in the first 7 hands. Then won 40 in the next 15, and went on to win ~30$ over 400 hands. The tables were full of nits, and a some of my profits came from stealing their blinds.

I'm super tired now, but might put in another session before bed.

Played some more last night, and more this morning. Somewhere BE for that part. After the mornings session, I've realized something. I don't study nearly enough.

When I was playing 6max NLHE, I didn't have that problem. And the reason why is pretty simple. I can't make myself put in effort into something that has limited options. At best, there are 3-4 tables of 1/2$ running, and maybe a few more on higher limits. So, subconsciously, I know there is no "higher", no "moving up" and I can't force myself to study.

Yes, the game is beatable, hell, I've been doing it without any significant effort (albeit for the small amount, and on a small sample), but I don't see the future in it. Also, I'm not enjoying it as much as I used to. And this doesn't have anything to do with results, I just got tired.

So, I'm doing the same thing again. Changing games. Actually, not changing, but reverting. I'm going to play HU SNGs again. Will probably take a break of poker (a few days), as I have a lot of uni stuff to do, watch some videos, read some articles and dive in.

Oh, hi, you are still here? Nope? Never mind.

Had a change of hart regarding 5cd, played it some more, then pokerhands crashed badly, managed to wipe my database (also the database used by HEM !? ), and I figured it was a sign and let 5cd go.

After that I figured I might as well install HEM2, and boy was that a mistake. After the first few matches, it counted them all as 9man SNGs which I lost. So obviously I uninstalled it and went back to the good old reliable HEM1.

I bought a membership on one of the HUSNG training sites and watched a couple of videos before playing again. I started with the basic ones, because when I was playing earlier, I played by hart, trying to find how to beat each player individually. It turns out this is THE way to beat HU SNGs, so that turned out well.

Also many concepts are similar to those in cash games (earlier levels post flop play, that is), so I can relate to that a bit.

My biggest leak is impatience. I remember that same problem from cash games, trying to force things and make calling stations fold.

I also need to work on 10-20bb eff. stacks play, as a lot of time we're there in the turbos. When we get even shallower, I know some push/fold from my sng days to be able to beat 7s and 15s, but will need to improve on that for the higher levels.

EDIT: Jb posted while I was typing. Yeah, that's why I did it, obviously. Had nothing to do with the fact that I'm a giving-up lazy asshole :)
