CO: t1890.00 18.90 BBs
BTN: t4220.00 42.20 BBs
SB: t1370.00 13.70 BBs
Hero (BB): t1520.00 15.20 BBs

Pre Flop: (t150) Hero is BB with A :spade: 7 :diamond:
1 fold, BTN raises to t200, 1 fold, Hero ?

The BTN is 52/14 over 22 hands, minraisng a lot with stuff like K5s, QTo. What would be a good reshoving range against a lagtard like this one? What against a reg?

Thanks

Interesting topic. As a general rule, I go tighter vs fishes and looser vs regs. It all depends though.

This specific hand is a fold to me. Fish will not fold enough and I am not willing to take marginal spots for 15bb here. Vs a reg who I know is stealing a lot, I go for:

22+, A2s+, A8-9o+, a lot of suited kings, most broadway, mid-high suited queens and jacks, some suited connectors like 78s+, mid-high suited one gappers. Could be looser or tighter, depends on the meta game and regs calling range. With no meta in action, I assume most regs will call you off with 88+, AJo+.

Vs this type of fish, I will go for my value 3betting range. Something like 66+, ATo+, KQs

I will leave it open.

P.S. What is his BTN stealing %?

No meaningful BTN steal % since only 22 hands.
But as you said, I too believe believe now that against this opponent the shove is marginal at best. IMO those loose passive players usually tend to raise/call off their tier 1 and 2 hands and limp/fold their tier 3 hands (K8s, Q9s, 78s), whereas regs raise all of those hands but only call off the top of their range, which makes a light resteal profitable, if they don't adjust of course. He snaped me off with QJs, which sort of confirms my thought process. Would you agree?

Yes, I agree. As I said in the previous post- fish don't fold enough. Especially 52/14 one. He will not raise every other hand, so once he does, he will have a very hard time folding.

That's why I suggest you go with your value range vs him. 15bigs deep in you are in no hurry and you certainly don't wanna take A7o vs QJs type of flips.

The gap between reg's opening and calling range is what matters the most. It's a sensitive area and only little changes might make a big difference to our ranges. My re-steal range vs a reg who steals 20% BTN and calls 88+, AJo+ will be much tighter than a reg that steal 35% and calls 88+, AJo.

I expect a good reg to be raising the BTN quite a bit, so any pair, any suited ace, strong offsuited aces, mid suited kings, strong broadway+ mid suited connectors and gappers+ some suited face card hands that have flush and straight possibility such as J9s or Q8s to be a good starting point. However, we might have to adjust if he starts calling us lite or has seen us pushing lite. A lot of factors play role here. 15bb is perfect for re-stealing imo. However, things might change up pretty quickly depending on who's in the blinds, eff. stack sizes, previous history and so on.

Basically, once again. Vs fish, we mostly re-steal strong value hands as they won't raise/fold enough ( especially 6-player SnG fish that are very loose). Vs regs, we can re-steal a lot of with blocker hands such as Ax, Kx etc. and also hands that good equity if called such as suited connectors and pairs.
