Are you bluffing or raising for value?
And if you are bluffing: what better hands fold?

This is a play a rarely do. In this spot is it some sort of bluff/value/protection raise. I think I am often ahead here, but at the same time, there are so many turn- and rivercards I don't want to see. So by c/raising here I basically make my life a whole lot easier. ♦

But again, this is more or less the first time I tried out this play. Often times I just go for the c/call on the flop, but then it gets so hard to play on so many turn- and river cards.

Better hands that folds, are basically all his broadway hands that missed this board.

Thoughts on that?

Consider 4bet/fold, 4 bet/call pre flop it depend on your history and dynamic.

Because the playability sucks if I c/call.

Fold pre, Not close.

You are going to get owned so hard by any competent reg calling with pairs like this imo.

I mean min 4 bet

I kinda like this checkraise, especially if youv seen him flat JJ/QQ IP, but 3bet Ax light. Many players will just insta muck AK here being afraid of reverse implied odds, and only continue with AT, JJ+ as bluff catchers and Acxc. If he has say A7, or A5 he might decide to call, and will most likely be happy to check it down, so you can sometimes get some value vs these hands aswell.

First of all I agree that it's a fold-or-4b/c spot preflop unless we have special reads (which we don't).

As played you can argue for the c/r on the flop, but not "because it makes the hand easier to play".
If you're completely clueless about how he plays, your call preflop was bad in the first place - what kind of scenario do you want to have postflop in order to continue?

You can c/r with the argument that he folds smth like AK which has 28% equity whereas he just needs 20% to call and therefore makes a mistake.
Otherwise alternative lines are:
- c/calldown
- c/c flop, lead turn.
