Hi,

My biggest concern is I do not know how I should study. I've been playing NL2 for a year but I busted my bankroll recently and I am about to deposit again.

At first I told myself i need to read too, so I bought applications of poker book but it talks about ranges and this is heavy staff I guess.

I also have my PokerTracker 4 but honestly I only look at the hud so I do not know how to utilize effectively my software.

What is the best method to study poker? I love playing and playing but it seems I have to consider time to study as well, but whenever I want to study, I am more interested in playing instead..

How do you study poker?

Hey Man,
I suggest you make a study schedule. Start by correcting your pre flop and then start studying flop >> turning to turn and final river. At first, focus on familiarizing yourself with OPR ranges, 3bet ranges, Cold call and etc.
How to do this? Start Here
Be in the classes offered here. Watch your status videos and keep studying, this will give your game a good level in a few months.

Learning to study can be quite daunting, but the key is to master one concept at a time.

Yea, like Orochimaro said. The first step is to fix your pre flop range. I found fixing my pre flop range before anything has tremendous impact on my tournament results.

Second, you can start reviewing your understanding of pot odds, implied odds, probability, expected value etc.

When you have thorough understanding of the above concepts you can also start practicing putting opponents on a range. It may not be necessary at NL2 since you can play ABC poker and win.
Poker strategy has some well structured learning materials that aren't as expensive as hiring a coach.

good luck!

Thanks. I see you are mentioning making a plan, schedule etc, but what do you mean by these? When you had a plan for your studies, how did you create plans?

Is there a rule of thumb like for X hours of play you also need X hours of study ets? My problem is that I am leaning more towards playing than studying. How did you manage playing and studying at the same time? I am a morning person who wakes up 5 AM every day, but I would like to use this ability I have to my benefits but I do not know how should I master on concept and use that in play.

So there is no specific rule. You must create yours. What time to wake up, what theme to study, how many hours you should study. Everything is personal. I recommend you reading The Power Habit (Charles Duhigg). This book will help you a lot in these questions you made. GL man
