the Bill Cosby quote seems at bit creepy these days
Hi, deralte71
Although I'm sure it is understood, I'll state it explicitly:
Any opinions are my own, and do not represent the position of PokerStrategy.com
I'm a bit dismayed by the fact that he has been tried and convicted in media.
Without going to court, he can not defend himself.
Worse, the accusations alone can destroy a man. Even cleared of all charges, there will those who will believe he "got off" but is still guilty.
There was a case in Vancouver area where a teacher lost his job over allegations of sexual molestation.
The charges were specific and clear, with specific dates and times.
He fought back.
It turns out all the scenarios he was accused of were plots of a TV show.
I could not find a link to that specific case, but google "teacher falsely accused" or "teacher cleared" and you'll find some real horror stories.
I don't have an opinion on Cosby himself, but how would you feel in a similar situation?
Best Regards,
VS
Turning pro is a mindset. If we are struggling with fear, self-sabotage, procrastination, self-doubt, etc., the problem is, we're thinking like amateurs. Amateurs don't show up. Amateurs crap out. Amateurs let adversity defeat them. The pro thinks differently. He shows up, he does his work, he keeps on truckin', no matter what. (Steven Pressfield)
Les Brown's quotes are great. Some of them:
"Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else."
"Someone's opinion of you does not have to become your reality!"
It's not over until You win!"
"When life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up. Let your reason get you back up."
Hey VorpalF2F,
sorry, i didn't mean to offend you. i wasn't suggestion that you quoting Cosby was a way of choosing sides in the current case against him. Bill Cosby is of course innocent until proven guilty.
"Any opinions are my own, and do not represent the position of PokerStrategy.com " - that goes without saying.

Thanks, Deralte71,
I was not offended, and I was not the one who quoted Cosby.
I was just making a general statement about the tragedy of trial by rumour. Whatever the man did or did not do, he is forever tainted, and whatever good he may have done has been undone.
Let's let the matter lie. A thread of inspirational quotes isn't the right venue for such things.
But it does suggest another quote:
"It takes many good deeds to build a good reputation, and only one bad one to lose it."
