Just in case you run out of meth, you can always Shamboil.

It is possible CNN didn't do their research:

I have 3 children and a raft of nieces and nephews of the age that would most likely know of this.
I've never heard any of them mention it -- and they mention a lot of stuff their parents would hate to know.
The snopes.com article points out that the section of CNN's website that includes this is from user submissions.
If you want cheap thrills... oh nvm

I've known people that have freebased Nutmeg so I try not to close of anything from the realm of reality.
I was quite ready to accept it as fact, but having never heard of it, I went looking for more info, and everything I found points to it being a hoax.
When I was a kid we would roll maple leaves off the forest floor in newspaper and "smoke" it, so yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if someone had actually done this.
Note: The maple leaf thing makes you cough a lot, and you smell like a campfire, but no psychedelic effects at all.

I feel like until someone proves it as untrue we will never know. I feel like a prop is in order here, what odds do I need to give you in order to try this under adult supervision?

That's what I like -- the good old scientific method !
Form an hypothesis, and run an experiment, with side bets as to whether the researcher gets stoned or not! ![]()
As an experimenter with scant few spare brain cells remaining I opted for researching the literature first.
In Canada, all chemicals used in industry need to have any toxic effects documented in a standardised manner. The system is the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and the documents are known as MSDS -- Material Safety Data Sheets.
This is the MSDS for Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate
So where snopes.com had "probably false", the Vorpal Swordsman cries BullShit.
That having been said, anyone deliberately inhaling unknown substances at high temperatures gets a hearty
from me.
That was fun.
Oh, I have this strange white powder here -- I think I'll shove some up my nose for a lark -- or a quail or woteva.
Cheers,

I find this sort of ridiculous bullshit hilarious...boiling shampoo fumes and inhaling them, where do people come up with this stuff.
Ye but at least your nose hair would be clean, silky and have a deep radiant sheen your next door neighbour's ears would so soooo jealous of.
So should I be using shampoo and conditioner, or is a 2 in 1 gonna be alright to soften the inside of my head?? ♦ ♦ ♦
Judging from the ads I think we can agree Herbal Essence is the best stuff. They get a 'high' and don't even need to boil it!
Reminds me of
Jokes aside, me and my friends did once try and smoke oregano when we were 14 because it 'looked a bit like weed'

I was 14, so the high from pretending you are high is better than any actual high
True!
My friend used to snort the flakes from "Refresher" sweets. Don't know if you have em' in the UK.

When I was in grade 4, (10 yrs old) the boys would hyperventilate for a few minutes then Twila (big girl) would squeeze us til we passed out.
No chemicals of any kind.
For some reason, only boys were into this...
I don't know what was better, the dizzy feeling first as you passed out, and again as you came around or just being squeezed by Twila. Oh, maybe that's why only boys...
