SNG Challenge

I haven't played STT,S for years because I found that they were getting harder to play, having read through the new sng literature I would like to do a small challenge regarding playing these games, the challenge will consist of a 4k sample at the $0.50 9 man turbo,s on pokerstars.

3 reasons for this challenge.

1) To see if these games are beatable

2) To see if pokerstrategys new articles on sng,s are still relevant to todays games (especially at the micros)

3) I,am learning to 24 table

Will update after every 500 games.

Good luck with your challenge.
What have you been playing otherwise?
Lastly how many tables you play at a time now?

cheers
Mark

ive played various formats this year with success in all, ie 45 man turbos, 6 max hypers, all at the micro levels, ive had a break from poker for a month after the hypers due to a d/swing and have been watching vids on diff formats etc, ive come to the conclusion that mass tabling has to be achieved in todays games with roi,s dropping, so that's my main goal in this challenge to up tables and be comfortable, iam currently at 16 tables so only have to add 8 more!!

thx shane

I recently started playing turbo SnGs there as well in July. From my experience, you can absolutely crush the $0.50 games as it is the lowest stake SnG available so tons of people sign up just to go all-in on the first hand. It's full of fish and you can expect a very high ROI if you just play a TAG strategy.

The $1.50 game is a whole different story. Be prepared to play against A LOT of weak regs that have decent understanding of ICM and TAG strategy. There will still be a few fish but this game is significantly harder than the $0.50 game.

Good luck!

do you guys think a 8% roi is achievable at $1.5 turbos?

i think evolv87 has roughly 8% roi after 1.5k games - so iam assuming so yes

My roi for $.50 games was over 30%
For $1.50 games it's around 6%

I think you can definitely go higher than 10% on $1.50 games. I did not use any table selection strategy and had some serious ICM leaks that cost me a lot of buy-ins so I would take that into consideration.

If you are going to play on PokerStars, you really need to mark the regs. There are so many weak regs at $1.50 and you need to have an edge over them to make any money. There are a handful of solid winning regs that are very good players - these guys only play this limit and will not move up, mark them and avoid unless the rest of the table is fishy. There are a few of these guys that multi-table all day long and have ROI's above 15%.

Ok so 1st 500 games completed, I have reached all goals as of far, iam 25 tabling and will be trying 30 as of today and my roi is exactly were I want it to be, I think the roi I have is really making me happy with playing so many tables, should hopefully start updating 2/3 times a week now, will update at 1k games played.
