Hi all,

I'm going to use this blog to document my progress playing no limit holdem cash games (9 max), using a mid stack strategy (40bb).

Starting bankroll = $149.02

Bankroll Management

1 buy-in = 40bb, 50 buy-in's for any given limit.

e.g. Bankroll required for NL5 = $100, NL10 = $200, NL16 = $320, NL25 = $500 etc.

If I lose 1/2 my bankroll, I move down to next lowest limit.

Challenge No 1 (Completed 30/01/2012)

Starting at NL5, my first goal is to build my bankroll to $200. I will then move up to NL10.

Challenge No 2 (Completed 16/02/2012)

At NL10 build my bankroll to $320 (50 buy-ins) & move up to NL16.

Challenge No 3 (In progress)

At NL16 build my bankroll to $500 (50 buy-ins) & move up to NL25.

Updates will be at every 10K hands.

Hi all,

10K (almost) Hands Update:

Graph in the spoiler

Spoiler

As you can see, I've run real well :)

Bankroll = $207.14, now rolled for NL10.

Win rate for NL5 = 12.34 bb/100, $EV adjusted = 9.89 bb/100.

From tomorrow I'll be playing NL10.

Challenge No 2

At NL10 build my bankroll to $500 (50 buy-ins) & move up to NL25.

Next update at 20K hands.

Best of luck at the tables

Been playing on & off since 2009.

This year I decided to take poker more seriously, read the strategy articles here and a few books etc.

Just trying to build a bankroll :)

If you are playing a mid stack strategy (MSS), I would recommend you
follow the ranges given in the MSS articles here on pokerstrategy.com

That is how I got started. I play a little bit looser than the basic MSS advises
and change my play against different opponents tendencies with reads from stats etc.

I'm still a rookie poker player trying to learn and get better :)

Hi all,

Well here's the graph (In spoiler)

Spoiler

At least the profit/ev lines are going in the right direction =).

Current bankroll = $149.02 + $131.85 profit = $280.87.

Win rate for 20K hands =9.50 bb/100. EV adjusted = 7.62 bb/100

On the 1st of February PokerStars introduced a new micro limit NL16.

I will now be moving up to NL16 once my bankroll reaches $320 (50 buy-ins).

Check out my original post for more details on the bankroll challenges I have set for myself.

Hello all,

30K hands now played, last 750 at NL16. Never played above NL10 before, so this is new to me.

The Graph for 30K hands played so far ( In spoiler)

Spoiler

Bankroll = $149.02 (starting) + $161.82 (profit) + $10.00 (bonus) = $320.84

Win rate over 30K hands = 7.32 bb/100, EV bb/100 = 6.26

Only played one session at NL16, did not go too well! At one point I was down
-$30.00 but managed to end the session at -$5.00. I always seem to make a lot of mistakes when I first start a new limit, I guess it takes a few sessions to adjust.

Next update at 40K Hands!
