Okay guys, lots of hands and lots of questions. Very nice. We'll try to tackle them tomorrow. If we don't have time to go through them all I'll post here my opinion on the ones left (and maybe we can continue some of the discussion of the coaching in that manner)

This one looks like a check/fold to me with our hand. MP's range should be very strong, if you consider a range of ~4-5% you'll see you don't get many folds at all. Also, our hands plays bad on pretty much every turn, even a T, J or A. KQ looks like a more solid bluff bet here (altough maybe it's too loose still). You have to consider how you hands plays on outs that should increase its equity. Makes sense?

This one I'm not sure. The raise works well on one hand, given that it pushes the other players off the hand (so they don't get to profitably overcall with nut gutshots or even small FDs). On the other hand, leading into 4 players is pretty strong so I'm not sure about the raise. But I like the small sizing. And fold river on that runout yes.

As we saw in the coaching, this is actually a board that should favor UTG, even against a strong BU range. But, given that you opened 2.5bbs that might mean that BU can profitable call every PP, which should mean UTG is not as favored as if he would open 3bbs.

Anyways I'd bet very close to 100% on the flop, big sizing (80-100%). If you want to check/fold anything, KQ is not it, AJ, Axs no BD are more appropriate check/folds.

As played, the problem is that villain makes a decent read that you rep thin, because you should be betting flop with Tx+. If you want to bluff, I'd bluff potsize (villain is pretty capped) and use for value 88-99, some AA and some Tx you might have.

This looks good. On the river you could say that we are close to the top of our range so we should call. But actually we could have a lot of better hands that AJ that we check/call flop with and I think when this river hits most villain's will not find enough bluffs.

BB shows 7♦ 5♦ (One Pair, Fives)
(Pre 32%, Flop 82%, Turn 95%)

This on flop situation where SB probably wants to bet often and biggish (depending how wide BB is calling pre flop, the less 8x and 5x and 64s/63s he has, the more SB can bet big.

Turn I feel SB should have enough "availability" of semi-bluff hands (any gutshot, overs to the 8, FD) that Ks7s is a fold. But okay.

River it seems to me that a J helps SB a lot more than BB right? Hands like J7, J9, KJ, even AJ are a lot more in SB's range usually, and SB has more Q9. And K7s is actually low down in our range so it makes sense to bluff with it, probably 75%+ sizing.

Flop looks good, I like the half pot bet. I remind you guys that this is a good spot to bluff a lot in general with hands between the 6 and the K, unless villain is splashy.

The hand seems fine, I like the fold on the river, even though villain's line is super weird, but I think we are better of not making Hero calls at these without reads.

Hi double2,

I have a question regarding to the coaching from yesterday.
You talked about low boards in UTG (hero) vs MP/CO/BTN spots. It seems to be obvious, that our range should be stronger than the IP range, having the uncapped range. Betting big with nearly the whole range should be a good approach.

But on most boards, IP has more than 5%+ equity advantage vs our range (+obv. he has poisition, so he can realize his equity better). How is the range advantage defined? Is it really on our site, although we are the equity underdog?
Here an example:
Board: 6c3s2d
UTG 46.27% 55+, A2s+, K9s+, QTs+, J9s+, T8s+, 98s, 87s, AJo+, KQo
BTN 53.73% QQ-77, ATs+, KJs+, QJs, JTs, AJo+

And how is this "range advantage" in general defined? Is it only messed on the equity, or with some other factors like, which range contains more nuttish hands and so on?

Thanks in advance

I think you gave BU a tiny bit too tight range, should be more like this:

Board: 6♣3♠2♦
       Equity     Win     Tie
MP2    48.80%  46.44%   2.36% { 55+, A2s+, K9s+, Q9s+, J9s+, T8s+, 98s, 87s, AJo+, KQo }
MP3    51.20%  48.84%   2.36% { QQ-77, ATs+, KJs+, QJs, JTs, T9s, AJo+, KQo }

And you are correct, if the top of one player range is a lot better than the other and the bluffs have pretty decent equity against the bluffcatchers, then it has a significant implication in how we should play the range.

But still, just ran that example in Pio Solver. UTG check half the time and bets potsize half the time. In this case the fact that UTG only has one set in his range hurts him a bit. If he had all PPs in his range, he would be betting a lot more frequently (it helps the top of his range a lot).

Postflop I was lost. His 25% turn cbet is no sample. Since the 9 completes his 4 JTs combos, i decided to fold the river, otherwise w/o the 9 not sure if a call is better, he has all KQ, QQ+ in his range, and not that many bluffs?

(SB is a nit, 14/9/1.7, Fold to Flop cbet 47, maybe villain did know him).

Not sure if the turn call is good after his flop multiway cbet.
River completes only 2 QJs combos, could be a call after calling turn, he has for sure some bluffs in his range, but are there enough bluffs, since the flop was multiway? What do you think?
With folding KQs on that river I do overfold my range (excpet 2xT9s) so maybe KhQh and KcQc should be fine to bluffcatch, blocking some AK and KK combos?

Question:
Big problem I see is barreling vs weak players in form of 25/5 or 35/10, ... Because I play mainly fast fold poker variantes, I often have just the short information of villain is playing only 1 table and additional only few hands with preflop stats like above, these things combined I see him as a weaker player.

There are spots like I'm barreling with equity hands with no showdown value, example 98s with a backdoorflushdraw on an Axxx board (flop cbet default, because I see high fold equity, turn hitting the FD equity, so I decide to barrel again). And finally on river I decide to 3rd barrel because otherwise I would lose for sure. Villain calls with weak Ax or 2nd pair. Is the line still profitabel with the weakest of our holdings?
Otherwise I'm barreling twice with QJ on T9xx, river blanks, I decide to check back, becacuse I dont think villain folds toppair, he shows 98 and wins the pot and I#m thinking maybe a bet would be still better.
Just few examples to illustrate the situation.
What's your approach in the postflop game there in general with cbetting, continue barreling on turn, continue on river, even give up with the worst showdownvalue hands in our range, and so on? Do you have some tips to handle and work with this situations / spots, also for the theory not only in practice?

Rgds and thanks

Hi Striker. The "ER" is still up of course and I will be more than happy to help with anything you post on this thread, so posting hands is encouraged. Next coaching I'm not sure when it will be, but I'll let you know. I'll also make a video, I will talk a bit about SBvBB (when to cbet, when to x/c, etc) since that specific situation didn't get enough attention in the coaching.

To the hands.

Pre flop it depends a bit on his frequencies, if he's 3betting SBvCO around 6-8% then your call is very okay. But if he's 3betting more like 10% then I think you are lossing EV by just calling, even 120bbs deep.

Flop and turn look standard. River I think the 9 helps both players ranges and indeed brings down the relative strength of AK down a bit. Still, if we are talking about two strong players we have to call river with AK (and start folding at ~KTs). So the question here is, how likely is villain to triple hands like AT/AJ? It's a tought question. I'd take a look at what I think is our best friends in low sample: WWSF and agg freq (in conjunction with VPIP/PFR). If I don't see agressive numbers (Agg freq >38, WWSF >48) I'd probably fold on this river in particular. And we are assuming villain is not value betting AK river, which I believe most players won't.

Weird villain, super tight but likes to 3bet vs early positions, talk about incoherence...

Ok, it would be important to know how much is he flatting there. It might be the case where he only 3bets or folds, which should his range is stronger than you might assume. Anyways, with that indication of fold to 4bet I don't mind your 4bet with this hand.

Flop I'm not too comfortable with the check actually, I think we will have a terrible spot if villain bets and we can actually get a value bet in if we bet small, like 33% pot. But the check is okay with AJ.

As played turn seems good. And agree we don't have a value bet river, and when he bets we just don't win often enough, so just fold.

Definitely call turn, even in a mwp average reg will have enough semi bluffs for you to call there, not to mention he can actually value bet worse.

River it's a spot where hands like KJ/KQ have a close decision, but against a half pot cbet they should be mostly calling, specially with the correct suits. Now talking exploitatively, assuming villain is value betting K9+ (AK should be a check back) he would have to be bluffing a bunch of combos of AdXd, AsXs. I don't think regulars in general will do that enough, and hands like JT/QT they will check back river most of the time. So in this particular river I don't mind we fold most of our KJ/KQ, although I'd call the ones with a nice suit, like this one in the example. This is also a situation where a few information could easily make us go either way, any indication of a nitty player should incline us to fold these type of hands, and vice versa.

Against weak (recreational) players we can risk some more general assumptions and play a lot more exploitative. We can focus almost entirely on villain's range and pretty much forget about our own.

So in that example with the Axx board, 2nd barreling with a FD and overs to second pair seems to me okay, we should get just enough FE for that. But on the river we can assume villain will not fold top pairs and we can assume he will have a lot of Axo combos, even against early position steals. So you just don't get enough folds to bluff anything, villain will be overcalling.

In that T9 situation, like we open CO, fish calls BB, flop T92r, turn 3r, river 5. We 2 barrel QJ and face a river decision.

Let's make some assumptions about villains range:

- He calls pre flop, flop, turn and folds river with: 88-66,A2s,KJs+,QJs,J7s,97s+,87s,A2o,KJo+,QJo,Q8o,J8o,97o+
So I assume he plays passively hands like QJ/KQ/J8 and fold them river. I also assume he folds his weak 9x (98, 97). So these gets 134 combos he folds river.
- He calls down with: TT-99,55,33-22,ATs-A9s,KTs-K9s,QTs-Q9s,J9s+,T6s+,ATo-A9o,KTo-K9o,QTo-Q9o,J9o+,T7o+. These are 147 combos.

If we bet 75% on the river we need 42% folds to have a profitable bluff. With these assumptions villain is folding river 47%. So he is actually quite balanced without knowing it :).

So I'd go at it this way: check busted draws that win a non-negligible % of the time (example, against villain's folding range, KQ wins half the time when he checks back, so no point in bluffing right?; QJ actually win 25% of the time against villain check/fold range). Now, a hand like 87 never wins, so it makes sense to me to bluff that, given the range assumptions we made. J8 only has 8% equity, so I'd bluff that. Q8 has 17% so I guess it starts to get close.

Also, very important: quick notes that you can easily read and help you are very important. Let's say you get called on the river by A2. Just make a quick not: "hero caller river", it will help you next time, where you should not bluff and treat top pair good kicker like a set. Also very relevant: it doesn't matter what hand we bet river, we usually forget to make these notes when we value bet top set and get called by bottom pair, but we usually make the note if we are caught bluffing. This is not reasonable.

Does all of this make sense? Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate that work vm. Like the detailed answer, I could take out some good points to work at.

Hand #2
He really seems to 3bet or fold there (flatting just 2-3% in MP&CO).
Value betting (b/f?) on the flop seems to be fine, we get around 59% vs. a calling range with QQ-JJ,AQs+,AQo+ (I was scared of a raise and his better Ax and did not consider that the Ax combos are heavily blocked).

with regards to the barrelling question I have the same thoughts, i see a hand I should barrell and an undercard on the turn and think he's never folding the turn here. Sometimes I tripple it (and feel like i always get called ) and then other times i chicken out and get beat by a weak pair or ace high. Perhaps it's a mental game issue aswell though that we remember those spots more because they are annoying
