I somewhat understand Hero's thought process - presumably, the MTT in question had started at 11:00 ET but Hero didn't want to start the session until around 11:25 because there's a shortage of midstake tourneys before that, and so he decided to register late to make the session shorter... well, perhaps loading something short and sweet like a Spin & Go at the start of an MTT session is more +EV than registering late into an unusual MTT format. Registering late into a 'vanilla' tournament is usually quite OK but those 'kinky' formats that reward being the chipleader (PKOs too, fwiw) usually require having a sound overall strategy for the tourney at large, not just for separate hands, and I'd rather register early to have enough room to put my at-large strategy into action.
Thanks to Collin and David 'honigmund38' for deciding to grant me with an hour of the latter's free coaching!!! ![]()
In the Twitch chat, Prim has expressed a wish that I retell on the show what I'll have learned in that coaching hour.
If David agrees with my plan, the hour will be dedicated to 4-max play, so in order for me to apply it in any way on the stream, I think I have to add a decently deepstacked 4-max game (I mean, deeper stacked than the 10 bb 2x-shootout satellites) onto the list of possible formats.
Therefore I've decided to add David's favourite 4-max MTT, the $4.40 4-max rebuy (he has mincashed for $28.08 there today after the stream, btw), onto the list.
So the new additions are:
8. 4-max rebuy MTT $4.40 non-turbo, $2K Gtd, @ 15:00 EDT
20. Splash rebuy MTT $1.10 turbo, $6K Gtd, @ 14:15 EDT
(the first 40 minutes of the Splash MTT would have to be skipped from the stream that starts at 15:00 but, to compensate for it, the next 50 minutes of the tourney would actually be its most exciting phase when the shortstacks holding on for their dear lives longing for the addon break would be brought into submission
)
and the whole list is now as follows (in descending order of my liking):

Tony, you´re the best!

I personally had a little bit enough of K.Os, would like to see something without K.O. otherwise my brain goes K.O. ♠_biggrin:

KOs are the future of PokerStars, whether you like it or not. Spin & Gos were making some people dizzy too in 2014 but, in 2017, they're about as mainstream as NLH cash games. Perhaps, even a hybrid of Spins and KOs will be rolled out this year (namely, SNGs where every KO prize will be random).
And don't worry, I'll find room for some 6-man hypers in my grind, just I don't change my order of preference, so this format remains #12 on my list, in accordance with its # in my heart, but the fact that a format is low on the list doesn't mean that it's not going to be played. I just wanted to make the readers less likely to pick my least favourite formats if they're rather indifferent, but it looks like you're not so indifferent.
Huge news, guys!!
On the April 26 show, Collin will be talking not only with myself :f_cool:, who'll be the one playing, but also with a prominent blogger Primrose6789 ♠_cool:
So please feel free to leave questions for her in this thread or her blog, especially those concerning healthcare for poker players ♠_thumbsup:
As for my part, don't forget to pick your 'poisons' (your preferred SNG formats to be played) from the list which is in a spoiler 4 posts above, and post your picks in this thread if you haven't done it yet.
Thanks for your comments and analysis Tony!
This week on the coaching! We're going to look at a deep run in the Big 27 and focus on postflop lines.
Great! $27 MTTs are just about the top of my current buy-in range ![]()
The reason why I've been so verbose so early about the April 26 show is because I want to build up the suspense.
Speaking of the formats, so far the most likely mix looks like this:
$3.50 non-KO 6-man hypers;
4-max shootout satellites (obv, without playing the target MTTs), incl.:
$0.90 256-mans to Sunday Million,
$4.25 16-mans to $33 Bounty Builder in the first 15 minutes (so only a couple),
$4.25s to $33 Bubble Rush,
$7.10s to Big $55 if my BR allows;
$1 Beat The Clock
(maybe even 5 minutes of nanonoko style Zoom 4-tabling for the lulz, with only you and Prim talking);
$3 super-KO 24-mans just to hear Prim react to that holy mess;
$1.10 time MTT (15-minute) @ 15:20 ET so that you hear me react to that 9-max snoozefest;
whatever else is requested further itt.
The reason why I don't really want to commit myself to those formats that are longer than half an hour is because playing fast formats will allow to close Stars' client and open Holdemresources many times, not just during the sync break.
Tony, great mix of formats you posted, and sorry I initially gave the wrong date above but yes it's the 26th you guys are coming on. Guess I got too excited ♦
As Tony mentioned I can say something about the medical aspects of poker (brain chemistry) but not too much because it´s "Collins Sit and Go Academy" and not "Collins Medical School" ♠_biggrin:♠_ugly:♠_ugly:
Don't you think that healthcare is a very important component of being a crusher at SNGs (as well as at any poker format)?
In particular, I'm interested in ways to improve endurance so that I can finally grind non-hypers with high thought quality for more than an hour in a row
Saturday is gonna be my most loved and most hated day of the week at the same time because if I play any MTTs then, I'll only have 5 minutes an hour available for mental regeneration, which is not enough with my current poor focus
Of course it´s important! I just don´t want the coaching to mutate to a medicine lesson, haha! ♠_biggrin: But it´s always good to stimulate neuronal plasticity, right? ♠_ugly:
I for one would like to mutate a bit to gain the jabberjay ability to remember the bet sizings of myself and my opponents in the current hand ![]()
(No, I've actually never read or watched Hunger Games yet
)
Breaking news!!
Spoiler

PLO Spin & Gos have finally arrived at Stars, and these will be played on the April 26 coaching in addition if the audience wishes!
Let me make it more listenable for myself:

On a side note, Prim, it looks like you'll be not only the co-guest but the co-coach as well, as you have a decent level of PLO expertise.
You might actually want to grind PLO spins yourself this and next week. If so, it's not impossible for Collin to show your live play at the $1s too
