Third Month: Internship
Time management

As I expected, this month was very challenging in terms of time management
You may have read on my last month post that I had to do an internship to access to my medical studies.
The internship
It wasn't that hard in terms of work, but hard in terms of long hours. 15-18 hours/day in average + nights calls.
Sleeping wasn't really relaxing because, at every sound, I had to be ready to do stuff.
The crew was great though! I met some awesome people and clearly made new friends.
As for poker, I managed to watch some videos from Spin Legends at the end of the day.
I admit, one time I had to erase my time log because I fell asleep in front of the monitor
During the 11 days internship, I had a single 9am-9pm break. So I went home and spent some time with my lovely girlfriend, ate some fondue (this is Swiss Spin legend after all), relaxed a bit and pet my cat
It was hard to cut the cord from the internship because it was very absorbing emotionally.
During that "day" off, I couldn't resist: I played a spin! :spade::heart::diamond::club:
To be honest, it was out of fear that somehow, I would forget everything about how to play/win
Mention to my girlfriend who didn't even blink at the idea that I play a bit on my 12 hours break instead of spending time with her.
This is so refreshing to have someone who supports me and doesn't "break my balls" as we say around here ♠_thumbsup:
Playing one tournament was great and made me feel the urge to go in a leak find hunt the next day
I found a lot of them: small ones, big ones and I learned a lot.
The "bad hands" tags of poker tracker helped me a lot to make a list of them.
The internship ended well and I clearly didn't expect a spotless review from my chief.
She ended it by saying "don't change". I was very proud and confused (but very proud I admit ♠_cool:).
The othershit
I didn't calculate the time required to prepare the internship and to recover from the lack of sleep.
And the lack of time for social interaction !
I was like on an Island during those days. I missed my friends, my girlfriend, my family.
Since I had only two weeks between my two internships, I made it count.
How I managed to put more than 70 hours for this project is a mystery
One thing for sure, GOD I LOVE SPIN LEGEND !!!
This was so long, with so few poker in my life. I'm glad that I didn't shift from 24/7 internship to 24/7 poker though.
As a monomaniac, this was one of my fear. I keep a time log of everything. work/internship/girlfriend/socialLife/poker/keyboard/Netflix/nap and other.
A balanced life. This is what I want. But as a passionate guy, this is so easy to fell into the rabbit hole.
If you're an alcoholic, don't drink. If you're a workaholic, you can't just quit work. I'd love to let myself go, but I have to be careful.
This month helped me set a direction for what I want in terms of week-to-week schedule.
I don't want a defined schedule. I know what I want to do during my day/week, I know how much time I want to put in, and I'll just do it
No need to create an hourly schedule; I just have to do the work that I set for myself.

Results

216 tournament and it felt great
I became more confident in my plays.
My value bets were more appropriate regarding the sizing. I've still a lot of work to do in that regard though.
Bluffing! Playing in micro made me forget about it. But in 3$, there is some spot where this is profitable. I'm more attentive to this and hope to make more chips on those spots in the future!
I played without the sounds of PokerStars. What a bliss
It was much more relaxing!
This is still hard for me to not be pissed off at coolers.
I'm "fine" with bad beats because I don't look at the screen.
I should put a shortcut on my desktop with a recording of Adriia18 saying his famous "It's okay, we open another one
that he said after every suck-out in his videos.
Weirdly, I started to cheers for one of the other players when they are all-in. It was fun at first, but then it made me stressed out when "my" player loses, so I stopped
Ho! funny story while I think of it:
I heard a squeaky noise while I was playing a 4x multiplier. And great news! I can now add a line to my CV:
- can win a tournament while chasing a mouse that my cat brought me alive in the house
I started to adapt a little, and carefully, in situations of deep stack vs tight short stack players.
Losing money by following blindly the charts wasn't fun. I know those are made for the general population and I don't deviate from them generally.
But versus a villain with 8 vpip and less than 15bb, I now adapt
Another spot where I should stay calm is when the blinds are very low (something like less than 7bb for the three players).
This is very rare, but this pisses me off so much!!!
And finally, let’s just say for the record that some chest arrived to pokerstars. I won’t comment on it.. :pcuser::facepalm:

Next month
16 days. 16 days straight starting tomorrow with 11 hours of break.
I'm gonna take it like a champ (I hope :|)
After that, I should be able to go back to a "normal" life.
My objectives are pretty much the same as the ones from last month since there aren't fully and strongly implemented yet.
See you next month!
