Introducing: MEGAN!
Harrier gave me this little Pokerstars sharky as birthday present (which will be this Saturday). This shark immediately reminded me on the "Sherman & Megan" comics, so I decided to call her Megan. As Harrier also has such a shark, I came up with the idea that those two are now Sherman and Megan. In the comics Megan has a nice perl necklace and so, I decided to order one for "Megan". ♠_love:
And here she is! She brings me luck at the tables and helps Baby Peach with PLO. Megan will mainly play the variants with more than four cards.

Five Card Draw Shoot-out
Today's Troll Challenge is brought to you by the Department of Too Many Tables (DTMT). As Prim and I were awaiting the start of our tournament, we had a look at what else to play, and started looking at some SNGs. I thought about those 5CD SNGs that I used to grind for a bit a few years ago, and thought they were not running anymore, but it turned out there were just some hidden filters that I hadn't enabled yet.
So both Prim and I joined one, and I later joined a second one as well - I would have preferred to play this one with Prim too, but there was only one seat remaining. This means that I was playing three tables at the same time with the MTT now running too. Normally two is my limit, but I thought this one would go a bit better, since it's all the same game, at least. I was wrong.
Turns out that there is a lot to do with all the discarding and stuff, which was made worse when I got pretty far and eventually heads-up in the SNGs. Every second there was a new decision to make at one table and I just had no idea what was going on anymore. 
I soon found myself shortstacked in the MTT, without even knowing how it happened... and I couldn't recover from it.
Prim ended up bricking too, but she got farther than me. I ended up shipping both of the SNGs I played, so I did earn a profit throughout all of this, but none of this counts for the challenge, where only the MTT matters - so the win goes to Primrose. 
Those SNGs have better traffic than I thought, so I might come back to practice my PL 5CD game, and Prim might come back to them too, but I need to make sure to do that when I have some empty space in my sessions, because they can get quite crazy, as I found out the hard way today.
I got Megan on my side and even though we were card-dead, Megan did a great job at draw.
But there was also an SnG for Baby Peach. We played one of those 1 $ NLO8 SnGs which was quite nice and worth thinking about it playing from time to time. There are a couple of nice PLO8 and NLO8 SnGs on Stars.

But having had a look at the SNG lobby while I railed you, I wouldn't recommend at least that type of NLO8 SNG at all. It's 6-handed with 3 places paid, with 3rd place basically just returning your buy-in with a few extra cents. 2nd place is still considerably less than a double-up and 1st place pays a little less than a triple-up - and all that in a hi-lo game which usually takes longer than hi only games thanks to those split pots.
I wouldn't bother, except for practice purposes every now and then, or possibly to pass the time.
Hi-Lo Battle
We decided to stick to our Saturday challenge of playing both PLO8 and Courchevel Hi-Lo, with two $2.20 PL tournaments on Pokerstars that both start shortly after 21:10 CET. As usual, the winner of the challenge is the one with the most profit in these two games, with as many rebuys allowed as possible. Equal profit means the challenge is tied.
Last week, I dug myself a bit of a hole by having to rebuy early in Courchevel, and ended up giving Primrose an automatic win after busting out in both tournaments, though she carried on for a mincash in PLO8 to make it a more satisfying victory. This time, Prim was the one to exit early in Courchevel after an unlucky loss with a full house, but decided not to take the rebuy. Our birthday girl was in the driver's seat for a while in PLO8 again, though I later overtook her. We both managed to make it to a mincash this time (25th for Prim with 34 paid), and I was right on the verge to the next cash ladder when I busted out (18th). It's one of those tournaments with a very long first mincash ladder compared to the later steps.
Even though I made it farther in both games, profit was still even between the Trolls at this point, so it all came down to Courchevel, where I had a very good stack, but nothing was decided yet thanks to the two hours of late reg in that tournament (compared to only one hour in PLO8). Prim still witnessed me officially making it ITM for me to lock up the victory in tonight's Troll Challenge, but eventually had to go to bed, with midnight approaching, so it's time to let both her and our dear readers know about my final result now: It was a 10th place for $10.34 - not bad at all, but also not worth grinding for four hours, which is why I'm not playing this tournament outside of the challenge.
I'll leave you guys with this flopped straight flush, which however did not get any further action, or else I would have posted it in Hand of the Day.

First of all, it started out similarly to our last Five Card Draw Shoot-out on Friday, with me barely paying attention because I played some SNGs on the side, which sadly didn't go as well this time. Prim was doing pretty well in the HORSE, while I was starting to get short. This time, however, I did not get blinded out, as I soon tripled-up in a good Stud pot and shortly after that got a fabulous runout in Stud8:

I had a bunch more of those, Stud8 really carried me this time. Anyway, to cut a long story short, Prim kept up the good work but eventually had another "boating accident" with a full house, and so had to leave in 90th place (out of 369 players including re-entries, 63 paid). I continued to build my stack, and it looked like another long night. In the end, I could lock up not only another top 10 finish, but also a final table, where I continued to do pretty well. So well, in fact, that I eventually found myself heads-up with an over 10 to 1 chip lead.
I had several opportunities to seal the deal in the FL Hold'em part, which is the one I usually despise the most. Unfortunately, my opponent kept slipping out of those crucial spots, even though I had the upper hand overall. I longed for the FLO8 part, but ironically, I did a lot worse in that one, looks like my heads-up game is pretty weak there. Far from securing the win, I let my opponent come back, and we soon had a proper battle on our hands.
By that point, the game I was longing for seemed to be whatever game was up next. Razz had some of the typical back and forth, with me ultimately on the losing side of it. Stud did not allow any breakthroughs for me either, and soon my opponent was the one with the 10 to 1 chip lead. It looked like I had some chances to get back with some good starting hands, but the runout did not favor me. Eventually, I found myself forced to go all-in, and this one wasn't meant to be either.
We have yet to outright ship a tournament from one of our challenges, but this one wasn't it, no matter how much it looked like it was supposed to be it. I'm terribly sorry, Prim... I failed you... 
2nd place still gave a pretty respectable payout of $37.71, but after coming within spitting distance of taking down the $62.64 for 1st place, it really does feel more like losing than winning.
But sure, as far as the challenge is concerned, I won the HORSE race.
Still feeling a bit shook-up about my heads-up loss right now, but I know that I'll be over it by tomorrow - or within a few minutes, in fact. I can already announce that we have some plans for the coming week, more info tomorrow.
Okay. achieve a great result, win the HORSE race and you failed me, while I´m sitting here being HORSE salami?

However, I picked up some viande fumée aka Montreal Smoked Meat -- or just Smoked Meat if you're English and in Montreal. It is distinctly different from corned beef or pastrami -- but similar.
Troll Fitness
Winter is approaching, and my fellow squirrels have already stocked up on supplies to make it through. I'm pretty much all set too, but one thing I'm lacking, compared to my squirrel friends, is some decent exercise. I've made plans, but I rarely followed through recently. Time for a proper Troll Challenge...
Prim and I have been discussing this a bit, and we came out with a "lazy squirrel" plan to get me going. It's not much, but it's a start.
After getting up
- at least 30 minutes of jogging
- 15 biceps curls (light weight, i.e. 7.50 kg per dumbbell)
- 2x 10 triceps extensions (10 reps for each arm, light weight)
- 10 shoulder presses (light weight)
- 10 burpees
Before going to bed
- 10 biceps curls (heavier weight, i.e. 15 kg per dumbbell)
- 10 bench presses (heavier weight)
- 10 reps with my ab roller
I must do this routine at least three times per week, and we may update the plan at a later point. Today, I already got through my exercises after getting up, except for the jogging, which I will have to do another time.
Each morning I lift two 5-kilo potato sacks (one in each hand)
I try for 100 reps.
When I get there, I'll add a potato to each sack.
Update: I made it through last night's plan too, but I could tell that those 15 kg dumbbells haven't been touched in ages.
I was struggling quite a bit with them, and even more so with that ab roller. 10 reps may have been a bit too much starting out there, I took a break after 6 and then tried to do 6 more (two extra ones as punishment for failing to do them all in one set), but collapsed on the 4th rep in the 2nd set. I took a few breaths and completed at least the 10th one after all, so yes, I got through the whole plan.
Took a break today, as I'm feeling a bit sore now, obviously. I'll be back at it tomorrow, which will hopefully go a little easier. Still no jogging, so I'll have to catch up on that.
Next update: I finally managed to do a jog after waking up, it wasn't quite 30 minutes, more like 15, maybe, but that's because the 30 minutes target that I set for myself is a little unrealistic, I feel. I got through all those other morning exercises too, except for the burpees, I collapsed on the first one because those sore abs are still killing me.
On the plus side, I felt nice and slim as I entered the shower this morning. And Prim already confirmed that the challenge will not be judged as a failure as long as I make an honest effort towards those exercises, even if I can finish them all.
I did all the night time exercises too, except for the ones with the ab roller - I didn't even try, after what happened when I attempted the burpees. Not sure if it was wise to try those bench presses without a partner when I'm already struggling a bit with the weight and I can barely sit up with those sore ab muscles, but I made it.
Five Card Draw Shoot-out
After another little jog today - at least as far as my feet would carry me - it was time for the next poker challenge.
Prim and I joined our usual $4.40 Five Card Draw Turbo PKO MTT in the afternoon. I played some SNGs in the background again, but this time made sure that I would only have one of them running at the same time as our MTT.
The grindette did a good job staying cool and playing her cards right, but sadly, there just wasn't much to do with them, she was pretty card dead. I got a bit more lucky building my stack, and eventually managed to pick up two bounties too, a $1 and a $2. Prim made it to the end of late reg, but couldn't get ITM, which already locked up the challenge for me.
It didn't look like I could get anything else going either. The blinds and antes were rising fast, and I did not receive any playable hands. I ended up receiving a straight draw with about 2BB left in the blinds, so I thought I had no choice but to risk it. When I saw that I missed it and only got a small pair, I already opened up my spreadsheet to note down the $3 in bounties as my only cash.

...I didn't even see what happened, I already minimized the table at that point. I was very surprised to have it pop up again a few seconds later, with a proper stack next to my name.
This gave me the opportunity to collect a few more pots later on, including a $3.75 bounty, which already secured a slight profit. I was only a few places away from ITM when I first played a good two pair and ran into a bigger stack who strongly represented trips - not sure if he had it, I folded postdraw. Then I hit a good kings up two pair against a player drawing one, I called his all-in, but he turned out to have aces up. Busto just a few places shy of ITM, very unfortunate... 
Oh well, I won the challenge and made a small profit. It could have been better, but it also could have been a lot worse.
