There will be another Hi-Lo Battle tonight with Courchevel and PLO8, but first, let's wrap up my personal Troll Fitness Challenge.
I made it through most of my night time exercises yesterday yet again, I even gave that ab roller another careful try, but only did five reps and didn't go all the way. Everything else went fine. Today, I caught up on all the other exercises I missed, including one more jog. Burpees still caused some problems, but I managed to do five careful ones, not going all the way down to the floor.
So I didn't quite make it through the entire plan, but I made a full effort towards all exercises and did them as well as I could without cheating or cutting corners. I definitely feel a lot better already, this challenge was a good idea. 
I should keep up the effort in the future, but without a Troll Challenge for now, I think, especially because I believe the team practice at my American football club recommenced.
Now all that's left for me to do is to wait for Prim to officially confirm whether I successfully passed the challenge or not.
Hi-Lo Battle
...and one really sleepy puppy. 
I believe I warned Primrose before that this Courchevel tournament can last well past midnight, but I guess she never thought she'd make it far in there. She was proven wrong tonight.
After the grindette was already busy crushing some MTTs earlier today, she was now up for more than three hours of further late night grinding. Prim didn't quite make it ITM in PLO8, but had a good run, until some nasty flops ruined her chances of making it ITM. I cashed, but got out right on the brink of the next ladder again, so it was only a mincash.
The Courchevel Hi-Lo tournament has two hours of late reg, and it's also pretty slow paced. We both had a good run, but while I'm used to grinding at those hours, Prim actually has a decent sleep schedule so... she was struggling quite a bit tonight. 
Not really with the game, though, she kept fighting well until she had her mincash, and almost even made it a little further. I managed to get a bit deeper, and finished on the 2nd ladder, bagging $5.26 for a 21st place finish.
This gives me the win in the challenge. 
But we already decided that this will be our last Hi-Lo Battle, at least in this form. We will discuss some alternatives for our Saturday poker challenge together next week. Maybe we'll do PLO8 only, or some other games. I'm sure we'll find something nice.

The plain truth
Harrier wrote the report of our Courchevel battle very nicely and diplomatically. As I am a person who likes to tell people directly the plain truth, I won´t spare you guys either! :f_ugly::f_biggrin: I already had had a four hour and successful MTT grinding session for my BR Challenge behind me. I was a bit tired but no that much. As we started with our Troll Challenge I indeed never thought, I would make it ITM in Courchevel, because I suck at that game. :f_biggrin::f_ugly: I just thought "Meh. I suck at Courchevel, let´s invest all the energy in PLO8". After a while I could triple up in Courchevel and in PLO8 I had to face two really nasty rivers (paired board, no low) for my hands, so had to fold.
Harrier and I became big stacks in the Courchevel and I got more and more tired. I don´t know if Harrier had already told me about the 2 hours late reg, I didn´t really care about this tourney anyway. So, there we were: on the chiplead. Still late reg and I got more and more tired, sleepy and ...well, sour. 
I was cursing, I was complaining, I just wished I could go to bed and sleep, this totally f@*#€ up my circadian rhythm. :facepalm::rage: The Courchevel MTT can take until 3 am or so and I knew I was not going to make it until then, not only because I´m a donk, but also because I was terribly sleepy.
As I busted with AA2T..whatever double suiteds, I was just glad I could go to sleep
Normally, I´m an early bird, I do not stay up until late night. The Courchevel, which I am not a big fan of AND the staying up late were a double whammy for me.
Anyways, we will find something else to play together. ♠_biggrin:♠_drink:♠_thumbsup: I´m even open for 8game of some lowball fun stuff, but found out, that this not only messes up my sleeping schedule but also that I am not a big fan of Courchevel.

It was nice to see our Troll of the Year 2020 join in the fun. If you can make it, Vorpal, feel free to join us in this tournament more often, one more troll in the race makes the challenge a lot more interesting.
I had a terrible start myself, couldn't put a foot right. Bad play in FL Hold'em, terrible runouts in Razz, and always getting outdrawn in Stud - it didn't take long for me to rebuy. My 2nd and last bullet was in jeopardy too, when I hit aces up in the Stud part and already suspected that I may be up against a straight and even a possible flush on 6th street.

Vorpal also had to take a rebuy, making Prim the only troll who made her first bullet last. Unfortunately, it didn't do much for her. Loads of forced bring-ins, bad runouts in Razz... it was only enough for an 80th place finish, with 63 paid. Vorpal got out shorlty after her, in 76th. I got ITM and barely made it to the 2nd ladder, finishing 31st for $3.06.

It was a very tough weekend for Prim this time, but guess what? I tallied up the scores, and when it comes to our poker challenges (not counting the other ones), we are now exactly even at 8-8! The Trolls are evenly matched, how exciting.
We already have a nice idea for a new Saturday Challenge to replace the old one with the PLO8 and Courchevel8 MTTs. We are going to figure out a few more details about it this week and then announce it when we're ready.

It is remotely possible that I could have folded to the money, but I had a really nice stud hi/lo hand with 3 suited cards less than nine, and one of them was a buried ace. I ended up with an 8-lo and aces up — both of which lost to put me out.
But lots of fun railing you two as well as playing.

Advent Challenges
Advent is here, and I've already had my banhauser schnitzel to celebrate the occasion. 'Tis the season to be trolly, and I already have one challenge for Primrose and one for me - and I'm of course open to further challenges from her side.
Prim's Challenge: Christmas Lyrics
I already introduced Prim to a fine piece of American culture last year by challenging her to learn all the names of Santa's reindeer - and she still knows them by heart, I asked her again just the other day when she was in the middle of a poker session.
This year, let's try something a little more difficult: I hereby challenge Prim to learn all the lyrics to the classic Christmas carol The Twelve Days of Christmas. By Christmas Eve, she needs to be able to recite the whole thing without any help, preferably to an instrumental version of the song. I know she hates singing, so that won't be necessary, but ideally, I'd like to hear her speak the lyrics in the rhythm of song, at least.
Note: It's pear tree, not pair tree.
Harrier's Challenge: Pirate's Quest
While Primrose is busy learning her Christmas lyrics, Harrier will embark on an epic pirate adventure. But he's not looking for gold and plunder - that's what the poker tables are for. Instead, it's all about one of his favorite childhood toys: Lego (which may also be involved in our next Live Challenge, so I already have some building to do...)
Lego came with many themes, of course, and I especially loved the City and the ones with historical themes, like Castles and Pirates. But if I had to nominate one single all-time favorite set, it would probably be this one, the Eldorado Fortress (6276) from the 1989 Pirates line:
This set was fantastic, it was some coastal fortress for the imperial soldiers who were fighting against the pirates. It was fun to build, it looked beautiful and it featured so many playing opportunities, with the little dock, the crane and the hold (see below in the spoiler), the jail cell that doubles as a watchtower, the working cannons that shot little Lego pellets, and of course the cool minifigures: Four regular soldiers armed with muskets and sabers, one officer, one governor, and two pirates who may cause trouble, be thrown in jail and then attempt to do some bust-outs or so.

Later releases went on to feature a second imperial faction with red uniforms (possibly representing the British while the blueshirts could be the French, though the factions were unnamed and had generic flags) and even some native tribes, for even more epic Caribbean adventures with more involved story lines.
Now, my brother and I mostly owned those building structures belonging to the blueshirt faction, but one important thing we didn't have was a proper pirate ship. You'd think that having pirate-themed Lego sets with no ships whatsoever would kind of defeat their purpose, though we did still have a lot of fun with them, even if those little rowboats that came with the sets were the only vessels we could use. You must admit that it severely hurts playability, though, doesn't it?
It's 20-30 years late, but I think it's still time to fix that! My advent challenge will be to buy a nice Lego pirate ship until Christmas (alternatively one of those imperial ships, but pirates are preferred). I know that building it would be just as fun as it always was, and passing those quality sets on to my nephew and any other future kids will be so much better if they also have some proper ships to play with, unlike us back then.
Ebay should be one of the best places to look for those things. And how much would I have to pay for one of those beauties? Well, it looks like at least for that pirate ship from 1989 that I'd most like to have, anything under €200 would be a massive bargain...
This should make it quite tough to get my hands on one, as my current budget doesn't really allow me to drop that much on things in the "cool, but unnecessary" category like this one. Usually, poker winnings would be a good use for this kind of stuff, but as followers of my blog may know, I've been stuck on a bankroll building mission for quite a while, which means no withdrawals.
So the hunt will continue! This is a challenge I'm not too likely to pass, but it should be fun nonetheless.

I've seen both names, and it looks like Donder is indeed the original version, but it has always been Donner to me. Donner fits better with Blitzen, and what is Donder even supposed to mean? Well, it's not like I couldn't look it up...
Interestingly, apparently "Donder" really is the Dutch word for thunder, while "Donner" of course is the German word for thunder.

I didn't know about the meaning of Donder either yet, to be fair. When I first saw it one time (last year, I think), I thought it was a misspelling. Then I found out that it appears to be the original, and if anything, Donner was once a misspelling.
Doesn't matter, it was always Donner to me and it will stay that way. And as far as I know, it's the most common version by now too.
I have to mention here, that Harrier has been pestering me with Christmas stuff since August
