PokerStars Zoom, Hold'em No Limit - $0.01/$0.02 - 6 players
Hand delivered by Upswing Poker

UTG (Hero): $3.32 (166 bb)
MP: $3.72 (186 bb)
CO: $0.97 (49 bb)
BU: $2.00 (100 bb)
SB: $2.16 (108 bb)
BB: $1.74 (87 bb)

Pre-Flop: ($0.03) Hero is UTG with 8 8
Hero raises to $0.06, 3 players fold, SB 3-bets to $0.20, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.14

Flop: ($0.42) 4 6 Q (2 players)
SB bets $0.27, Hero calls $0.27

Turn: ($0.96) 7 (2 players)
SB bets $0.62, UTG (Hero) folds

1) Is it a profitable idea to call 3bets with small pairs like these IP?
2) Do you call these types of flops, as played?

1) Accounting for the stacks, yes. Think is rule of 10: what you'll pay to call, multipled by 10 has to be no bigger than the effective stack sizes. That is related with the probability of hitting a set and likelywood of being paid is only worth if the effective stack size has a 1-10 relation to what you need to pay.

2) Readless is a hard spot. To pay flop, I'd need some info on villain and if I called, I don't think I'd fold turn after increasing my #outs (5s were added as GS). I don't mean the GS would give me odds to continue, but if I was playing the turn, I think I already have convinced myself that villain would have some bluffs on his range. Basically, I would keep 50/50 good hand/bluff, but have 4 more outs in case he actually had a good hand. Not sure if this makes sense nor if I expressed myself correctly.

Most of the time I would fold pre-flop against a 3bet. SB should have a tight 3bet range against a UTG open and you beat only a hand like AK in his/her 3bet range. Based on the call20 rule for set value you can't call for set value only.

1. I think it is ok to call 3B IP. But be careful postflop.
2. I think we cannot fold 2nd pair here. Villain will cbet AK hands which we beat.
