This! :f_biggrin:

Until I can play PLO at a stake where the rake isn't 20+bb/100 with a conservative BR, I'd rather just play NLHE.

I had a hard time defining this villain's ranges and his overall gameplan in game. I had an interesting hand with him which I posted in TTs AMA thread and it made me look more into all the hands I have with him in my DB.

His stats:

All the hands are from his point of view:

Hand 1:

Spoiler

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.20(BB) Replayer
SB ($20.41)
Hero ($21.47)
UTG ($8.51)
CO ($8.08)
BTN ($23.47)

Dealt to Hero Q♣ 6♥

UTG calls $0.20, CO calls $0.20, fold, fold, Hero checks

FLOP ($0.70) Q♠ J♣ 4♣

Hero checks, UTG bets $0.52, CO calls $0.52, Hero calls $0.52

TURN ($2.26) Q♠ J♣ 4♣ 9♥

Hero checks, UTG checks, CO checks

RIVER ($2.26) Q♠ J♣ 4♣ 9♥ 6♠

Hero bets $1.50, UTG raises to $3, CO calls $3, Hero calls $1.50

CO shows 9♠ T♣
(Pre 23%, Flop 24.6%, Turn 3.6%)

Hero shows Q♣ 6♥
(Pre 29%, Flop 47.7%, Turn 0.0%)

UTG shows K♦ T♠
(Pre 49%, Flop 27.6%, Turn 96.4%)

UTG wins $10.70

It was before my hand with him. Seems very poorly played on the river after he gets a raise and a call. Neither would value raise worse and never bluff. Easy fold!

Hand 2:

Spoiler

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.20(BB) Replayer
SB ($20)
Hero ($20.30)
UTG ($12.43)
CO ($24.26)
BTN ($38.39)

Dealt to Hero 8♥ 8♣

UTG calls $0.20, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.70, UTG calls $0.50

FLOP ($1.50) 9♣ 7♦ 5♦

Hero bets $1.10, UTG calls $1.10

TURN ($3.70) 9♣ 7♦ 5♦ 6♦

Hero bets $1.90, UTG calls $1.90

RIVER ($7.50) 9♣ 7♦ 5♦ 6♦ 3♣

Hero checks, UTG checks

Hero shows 8♥ 8♣
(Pre 67%, Flop 81.4%, Turn 95.5%)

UTG shows 5♠ T♠
(Pre 33%, Flop 18.6%, Turn 4.5%)

Hero wins $7.13

His opponent is a complete station. He didn't want to play for stacks since he bet so small on the turn and checked the river. Seems rather weak even if the flush got there on the turn. At least bet big on the turn if you don't get more value on the river imo

First completely standard hand. He was playing the same fish as in the previous hand.

NL Holdem $0.20(BB) Replayer
SB ($22.66)
Hero ($20)
UTG ($20)

Hand 5:

Spoiler

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.20(BB) Replayer
SB ($19.40)
BB ($30.03)
UTG ($20.17)
CO ($36.90)
Hero ($20)

Dealt to Hero K♠ A♦

fold, Hero raises to $0.60, fold, fold, BB raises to $1.80, Hero calls $1.20

FLOP ($3.70) J♠ 7♦ 3♦

BB checks, Hero checks

TURN ($3.70) J♠ 7♦ 3♦ 4♦

BB checks, Hero checks

RIVER ($3.70) J♠ 7♦ 3♦ 4♦ 4♣

BB checks, Hero checks

BB shows A♠ K♣
(Pre 50%, Flop 47.7%, Turn 39.8%)

Hero shows K♠ A♦
(Pre 50%, Flop 52.3%, Turn 60.2%)

BB wins $1.76
Hero wins $1.76

Once opponent checks twice I think it's clear he has a poor hand and with NFD and 2 overs I think it's a good spot to bet and get him off splits and some live cards + we sometimes get a call from AQo with FD once. Seems again like a weak play postflop imo.

Hand 6:

Spoiler

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.20(BB) Replayer
Hero ($32.24)
BB ($24.27)
UTG ($22.78)
UTG+1 ($20.22)
CO ($28.05)
BTN ($30.46)

Dealt to Hero K♠ J:spade

fold, UTG+1 raises to $0.70, fold, fold, Hero raises to $2.10, fold, UTG+1 calls $1.40

FLOP ($4.40) Q♥ 3♠ T♥

Hero checks, UTG+1 checks

TURN ($4.40) Q♥ 3♠ T♥ 9♥

Hero bets $2.70, UTG+1 calls $2.70

RIVER ($9.80) Q♥ 3♠ T♥ 9♥ 4♦

Hero bets $5.80, UTG+1 calls $5.80

Hero shows K♠ J♠
(Pre 35%, Flop 42.3%, Turn 77.3%)

UTG+1 shows J♥ J♣
(Pre 65%, Flop 57.7%, Turn 22.7%)

Hero wins $20.33

First of all, the player he 3bet is average tight regular that doesn't fold too often to 3bets. I don't understand so much his ideea behind the 3bet considering his postflop play. If he 3bets, that's a good board to cbet because we have good equity and reasonable FE imo. Idk what he planned had he faced a bet. This confused me a lot since it's completely different approach than most I know in these positions against that type of player for preflop and flop. When he hits he vbets on the small side again but more understandable since value hands bet IP vs missed cbet.

Hand 7:

Spoiler

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.20(BB) Replayer
SB ($25.63)
Hero ($34.04)
UTG ($20.30)
UTG+1 ($19.18)
CO ($17.18)
BTN ($32.64)

Dealt to Hero K♠ Q♠

fold, UTG+1 raises to $0.70, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls $0.50

FLOP ($1.50) 4♠ 4♣ 6♣

Hero checks, UTG+1 bets $0.75, Hero calls $0.75

TURN ($3) 4♠ 4♣ 6♣ 9♠

Hero checks, UTG+1 checks

RIVER ($3) 4♠ 4♣ 6♣ 9♠ 2♣

Hero checks, UTG+1 checks

Hero shows K♠ Q♠
(Pre 76%, Flop 82.6%, Turn 95.5%)

UTG+1 shows J♣ Q♥
(Pre 24%, Flop 17.4%, Turn 4.5%)

Hero wins $2.85

This time his opponent is fishy but not a weak passive fish. I get the call preflop. I don't understand his postflop play though. I don't think KQ has enough showdown value here + after floating the flop he hits the best card. My personal approach is to c/r my BD FD and overs because I have plenty of barrel cards against someone that cbets a lot thus making him have a weak range.

Hand 8:

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.20(BB) Replayer
SB ($29.80)
Hero ($41.37)
UTG ($24.07)
UTG+1 ($22.39)
CO ($20.24)
BTN ($30.26)

Dealt to Hero Q♦ K♠

fold, UTG+1 raises to $0.80, fold, fold, SB calls $0.70, Hero calls $0.60

FLOP ($2.40) Q♠ T♦ 2♥

SB checks, Hero checks, UTG+1 bets $1.20, SB folds, Hero calls $1.20

TURN ($4.80) Q♠ T♦ 2♥ 7♥

Hero checks, UTG+1 bets $1.40, Hero calls $1.40

RIVER ($7.60) Q♠ T♦ 2♥ 7♥ 5♠

Hero checks, UTG+1 bets $1.60, Hero calls $1.60

Hero shows Q♦ K♠
(Pre 25%, Flop 14.3%, Turn 6.8%)

UTG+1 shows Q♣ A♠
(Pre 75%, Flop 85.7%, Turn 93.2%)

UTG+1 wins $10.26

Final hand! Preflop, don't get it. He has bad position and hand that is quite weak in a 3way pot. Suited it's a diff story. As played pre, I get his flop call. But then I'm just "huh?!". I can understand calling the turn and not raising that small bet because his opponent seems weak. However, I would strongly consider donking the river a lot bigger since opponent looks like having showdown value but quite weak. Apart from that we can rep a few busted draws which could improve our chances of getting called. Again, seems like very weak passive play postflop by him.

After reviewing all these hands I think I can say he is aggressive preflop but a lot more weak passive post. He doesn't bet or raise often or big as far as I can see and he likes to call a higher than average amount instead of betting or raising himself. I'm surprised his WTSD is so low. Plan is to value bet him to death and bluff less. When he calls he usually has showdown value and when he raises it's probably with a very strong hand.

Would appreciate anything added, maybe you have more insights on his plays. Always nice to actually understand how others think.

by looking into his game so deeply and looking at all those hands, you probably know more about his game than he does himself! I cannot imagine anybody on NL20 doing so much off the table work. respect.

be happy about his weak value plays. you will always loose the minimum.
dont count on him betting in pots, you have to get the bets in.
vbet thinly and punish him.

As you may have noticed I've stopped playing PLO for now. I didn't have the best of runs after moving to Betfred to say the least so I decided to return to NLSH while I can still play a limit that allows for a fast enough rebuild.

That said, I'm now playing NL20/NL30 on 888. I will probably play 1-2 more days to clear my bonus and next stop is Unibet. It will be quite a big change. First of all, mostly Anon tables there so less history, more table dynamics. I like having lifetime notes on players and they are very useful to gain that extra 1bb/100 from each player. Next, tables are in Euros. My roll is in USD so I will have less BIs. Apart from that, the jump is from NL20 to NL50.

The good thing is I'll have the 30% RB from PokerStrategy.com and tables seem quite good. 888 definitely is fishy but since I've played there a couple of months before I feel more reg-type players are there now despite the awful VIP system.

Still fingers crossed for FTP! I really miss Rush and their RB + VIP system. Probably even more than my roll there. :f_cry:

PS: I looked at NL SH tables on iPoker. Can't believe how nitty they are. PLO was not that different. Maybe it was a mistake to switch there just because of the good RB value from PokerStrategy offers.

You always have it in the Sessions tab at the end for each session and in total for the time range you assigned.

If you also want it in the reports there's the Stats selection menu on the left. Click the Cross in the Green Square to add the stats and move it where you want it between the others.

Here's a pic to illustrate :f_biggrin: (Yes, I'm bored and made it)

Labrokes has better fdb vs uni. On uni u need to rake 7k to get 1k bonus

Deposited on Ladbrokes in the end. Play is faster than 888 and iPoker, tables seem good after a couple of test hands. Also, I think Ladbrokes has more normal tables than Unibet. I could be wrong but as far as I can tell, I can find 6 good normal tables without too much hassle while on Unibet there where 5 total normal tables and only 1-2 had players on them. Weird!

Hey, gl on LB. ;) Will you be using their Pocket Card Manager (that thing that autofolds the range of hand you choose) or not?

No, I don't think I have any use to it. Will have a closer look but usually I have a wide button range so I might well not fold anything there if there are 2 nits in the blinds.

LE: Heh, it has default ranges. Now I know why "regs" open so ridiculously wide from SB. :f_biggrin:

Hand 1 is just history I had with him to maybe help in hand 2. I think flatting flop IP is better since than raising. I think there's a high chance of him spewing on all cards. If I raise though, I expect to be flipping vs his shove range + I don't think I have huge FE to be thrilled about the dead money. I actually tanked the river but I think 3rd pair no kicker is a bit loose vs someone who could tilt shove 88 or better 7 there for such a big bet. :f_biggrin:

Article from HighstakesDB. My thoughts: Fuck you very much, Doyle! It's way past knowing or not knowing about the financial status of the company, it's about how they are treating all of us now. I've never been a fan of Doyle and this kind of stuff is why. He doesn't see anything wrong with Ferguson and Ledered did and are still doing!

Doyle Brunson has published a new blog update, in which he goes through the whole Full Tilt Poker debacle.

Brunson tells, that he is not defending anyone or persecuting anyone, and that he has at least been in contact with Howard Lederer during the last few months:

-It looks like Bitar, Ferguson and Lederer are taking all the heat. Ferguson had a lot of faith in his friend Bitar. It is widely perceived that Howard Lederer was still heavily involved in running the company even though he retired two or three years earlier. I've been in contact with Lederer the last few months.

-When someone I've known for years, trusted and respected looks me dead in the eye and says he didn't know about the financial problems, call me a big old Texas sucker because I will believe them. I have not talked to Ferguson but I understand he says what Lederer told me, that they didn't know.

-There are at least 4 stockholders that own more of FT than Lederer. Where were they? The guilt should be shared IF its true Lederer and Ferguson didn't know of the financial mess.

Brunson also adds, that he does not want to "take a baseball bat and crush their grapes", or exclude them from rejoining the poker world.

Em, isnt UniBet the same with LB? And at LB you need to get platinum or something to get 30% rakeback , but at unibet you get it from the beginning, right?

Hmmmm... What should we talk about though? Any special requests, Mr Monkey?

I have a youtube video of me playing and a few players made some comments.I was thinking about linking it here and get some feedback and questions. However, I've noticed that I got more criticism from players that don't know how I usually play and less from those who know better how I think.

I always wondered how useful are the review videos where a coach just talks about how someone played.

After sharing this video on Skype and gathering some feedback I realized that review videos where the reviewed player is not there to give his opinion is next to useless. If the student is not there, the coach will only talk about the hands, whereas if the student is present he can actually correct his whole thought process. It's like sorting out the bad result somehow instead of fixing the root of the problem.

I have also noticed that when asking for comments on a hand people post something like this:

VPIP/PFR/3bet, 100 hands, unknown and ask for a big river decision.

There are so many problems with that:

1. Your thought process. Why did you get into that spot?
2. If after 100 hands he is unknown you have no idea how to gather even the slightest read. I know I had this very obvious leak a lot. I had to facepalm myself when a series made me notice it.
3. Posted preflop stats, is unknown, how can anyone give a good river decision in a big pot? You might as well flip a coin. No information provided leads towards making a river decision. Even a small thing like "seems passive", "didn't get out of line in these X hands", "has always shown the goods" can be very useful when deciding whether to call a some shove or not.

Recently, it has also been clearer to me that there's a very low chance an opponent thinks the same as you. I was thinking about visiting the Eval Forum more to ask more in depth explanations about hands from posters and Judges. I then remembered I was told I'm just trolling when I asked and pointed out some stuff in hands a couple of months ago so decided against it. I mostly get my kicks from JB's blog now! :f_biggrin: But JB is only 1 player and we agree too much recently. Need to find some place else to take my serious discussion to and he'll remain with the silly part of my posts.

I didn't get First Deposit Bonus on Unibet.

Even if I did FDB on Unibet + RB on Unibet < FDB on Ladbrokes + RB on Ladbrokes for me.

You only need to rake $1k/month to get the full 30% on Ladbrokes and if you rake $300/month you get 27.5%. Any lower and RB is 10%.
