So I'm playing the Pokerstrategy 100$ freeroll on Coral poker. And I run into this situation:

Full ring(9) blinds at 100/200 25

Me ~ 7000
Sitout ~ 1400
Villain 1 ~ 18000
Villain 2 ~ 70000 (chipleader)
Sitout ~ 1400
Sitout ~ 1400
Sitout ~ 1400
Sitout ~ 1400
Sitout ~ 1400

I don't exactly get dealt any good cards so I basically have to give up every BB/SB to the chipleader as he is raising every single hand with atleast a minraise. I can't steal many BB because when I'm in position I'm stuck with the villains in SB/BB.

I hit an AK at some point, raise, get forced all in and lose a 60/40.
Which well atleast it was in my favor.

Is there anything I can do apart from hoping the table will break up ?
Do I just let my stack dwindle to nothing while the sit-outs slowly die?

Hi Smoggert =)

The strategy forum is dedicated to strategic discussions and general questions about tournaments.

All hands are generally discussed in our hand evaluation and hand discussion forums. Therefore I will move your hand to the open discussion forum.

I hope to see more posts from you in the future regardless!

Regards,
Asaban

In this situation you can't think of it as a full ring table anymore. You need to 3bet his steals alot more and steal yourself. You are basically playing 3 people so you need to be aggressive.

Hi All,

As Daggstyle stated, you have to treat this as a 3 way table rather than a full table.

But for me, the very first thing you need to be looking at is, what is you aim in this MTT. If its just to make a little bit of extra cash, then don't stress over his raises to much. However, if you aim is to run deep then you need to start playing back and aggressively. It's a free roll and there will be plenty more people waiting to take his place, so if your not prepared to mix it up with the chip leader this early on, then the question is, would you do this further down line?

It's a freeroll - all normal betting patterns are suspended...... shove any 2 and either double or go out... no point wasting any time!!

That may sound harsh but it is a reality.....

Min-stakes are notorious for fishy play and free-rolls even more so - you have to get to $11 IMHO before players take a raise seriously....

Cheers,

Jass
