Hi,
is there any way you don't go broke here, did I play that wrong?
Thanks,

Edit:
I put Villain on a weaker Ace

Villain opens from UTG so he doesn't have so many weaker aces, especially after he 3bets on the turn.
Preflop and flop are ok but I see no reason to start raising OTT with TPTK. He doesn't continue with weaker hands than yours. When you face a 3bet OTT maybe folding would be ok.
As played I don't see how you could get away from this.

Thanks,
yeah the Turn raise doesn't make much sense.

I am thinkin I should have 3bet preflop to keep in AQ or AJ-s and fold out hands like 22 or 88

Since the villain is playing 17/14, I would have to assume he is stronger than a weak ace. Especially UTG.
But it is difficult to read the stats from only 38 hands.

I would bet the flop, to protect flush draw and get some value.
Although I am not sure if it would make much difference in this hand, you might get a better feel for how strong your ace is earlier on.

Maybe you can check the river as well and get away with just calling the villain.
Since he re-raised the turn, I do not believe your ace is stronger on the river.
(But it is easy playing poker when you know the cards :P)

But most of the time, you will loose a lot of money. Sneaky pockets!

Calling AK vs UTG is totally ok. I prefer to call here.
His range should be tight and you should 3bet him tight. That is why he would usually fold AJ vs your 3bet and AQ he might already bluff 4bet. So the most likely range would be QQ+,AK if you 3bet him.
Against loose players 3betting would be better but this guy seems tight.

I also prefer the call preflop.
Min-raises from UTG can be scary! :P

I think calling or 3betting pre-flop are both fine options. If you 3bet you have the initiative during the hand and you can build up a big pot if you hit top pair or better.

As played I would always check to the raiser and you could consider to check raise the river, but if he’s shoving then you still need to fold, because the ace is a complete blank against his range.

Now the turn and river play makes not too much sense and after the 3bet on the turn I would most likely check/call the river. He can easy have a set that improves to a full house on the river with his min 3bet on turn.

Cheers,

When it comes to 3betting preflop , i think it helps to work on some balanced ranges for what your 3betting vs which positions preflop.

If AK is in your 3bet range BB vs UTG you should always be 3betting it unless you have good reason not to.And likewise if its in your calling range BB vs UTG you should always be calling it unless you have good reason to 3bet it

So yes calling is ok and 3betting is ok. But which you do depends on 1 how you construct your ranges and 2 who the villain is , vs unknowns you just use your default ranges i think.

As played i think you can fold turn or check fold river, leading the river after you got 3bet on the turn isn't good i don't think .The ace doesn't actually make your relative hand strength any stronger , what beat you on the turn still beats you on this Ace river. The Ace actually just makes it less likely villain is holding an Ace.

You could of just lead the flop and turn yourself also , i think that's likely a better line to take here.

That is very, very result-oriented. You don't play with transparent cards.

Preflop: Do what you like best. I'd just call on a rainy day and raise on a sunny day.

From there on, it is check-call all the way. Turn check-raise is a hopeless play. No worse value hand is calling and some draws on his part will 3-bet you and bluff you out (yes, you should fold to the 3-bet as played).

I'm totally ok with calling (my line) or 3betting.

I'm not check raising with top pair though

I agree with what the guys say above , there are times youll 3bet pre . But when we flat pre i don't think we should play tptk like a set on the turn. Maybe sometimes its a good line but we need a reason to take that line.

You cant just do it vs everyone because its tptk , its very rarely good enough to stack off with in a single raised pot.

I think calling preflop is fine, if you 3bet hands like 22 and 88 will call, they have position.
