Hey everyone,

I played poker more than 10 years ago, and now I’m back at the tables.

I originally started with a free bankroll from PokerStrategy. Back then I played on a platform that no longer exists, and later moved to PokerStars, which is now one of the few options available to me locally.

A few months ago I realized I enjoy poker more than my office job, so I decided to take it seriously and try to become a winning player.

At first, I rushed into it. I opened 4 tables and started grinding immediately. After about 10,000 hands, I was down around $15. That was my wake-up call, so I stopped playing.

I spent the next 4 months going back to basics using articles from this site and an online course.

One month ago I started again, this time playing 6-max at NL2, beginning with one table and then moving to two. Since then, I’ve managed to recover my losses and start building a bankroll again.

This blog is where I’ll track my progress.

I plan to post weekly, share hands, and document both mistakes and improvements along the way.

Current goal: build solid fundamentals and beat NL2 consistently.

Hey guys,

One week has passed since my last post, so I’m here again with an update on my poker journey.

This week I experienced both a heater and a downswing, so overall I’m running around even, maybe one stack behind at the moment. The week is not over yet though, and I still have about a day and a half left to play.

I also made a commitment to myself: if I continue playing reasonably well during the next week, I will move up to NL5. I already have the bankroll for it, but I decided to start safely and rebuild my fundamentals at NL2 first.

Up until recently I was playing mostly two tables, but over the last few sessions I started experimenting with three tables. So far it’s going well, although it definitely requires much more concentration.

I’m posting my cash game graph together with the craziest hand from this week.

Cheers!

Hey guys,

Here is my weekly poker update.

This was a tough week. I finished around -$10, mostly from a combination of cold cards, some difficult spots, and at least one clear mistake in almost every session. Not exactly the glorious poker movie montage I had in mind.

The positive side is that I still played every day and reviewed hands after every session. I found a few recurring leaks, especially around river decisions, thin value bets, and respecting aggression in the right spots.

So the goal for next week is simple: keep showing up, play cleaner, reduce the obvious mistakes, and focus on better decision-making rather than chasing results.

Hopefully the graph starts moving in the right direction again soon.

Cheers!

Hey guys,

Another week has passed, and this one was a bit different. I didn’t manage to play poker every day because I hit a period of burnout from work and had to skip the tables for four days.

That said, I didn’t disconnect from poker completely. I still watched poker lectures every day to keep the habit alive and stay connected to my goals.

Starting tomorrow, I plan to return to playing and continue the journey. Let’s see if I can rebuild the rhythm and put in a full week of focused poker again.

Cheers!

Yup work can be stressful especially when lacking support. I normally move down the "work stakes" then. Good luck!

Hey guys,

It has been two weeks since my last update. Today marks **day 70** since I decided to work on poker consistently, and so far I haven’t skipped a single day of engagement.

Some days I play a session, some days I review hands, some days I watch lectures, and on better days I manage to do all three. The important thing is that I’ve stayed connected to the process every day.

My graph is still moving up and down, so I don’t think I can call myself a winning player yet. At best, I’m probably somewhere around break-even while still rebuilding fundamentals and fixing leaks.

It’s funny because I remember the games being much softer 15 years ago. The player pool feels tougher now, even at the micros, but that just means I need to keep improving.

For now, the goal is simple: keep showing up, keep studying, keep reviewing, and hopefully survive long enough to become a winning player again.

Cheers!

Hi, how many hands did you play so far?

Hey Stackoffski,

Not that many yet. Since restarting, I’ve played 32,068 hands in total.

Before my long break, I had around 300,000 hands played and had reached NL10 before stopping.

I’d like to put in more volume, but for now I’m focusing on quality over quantity. I’m trying to play only when I feel I can bring my A-game, and I’m still playing just 2 tables at the moment while rebuilding my fundamentals.

Hey guys,

It has been almost three months since my last update. I haven’t had much time to post here, but I’m still working on my poker and doing my best to improve.

I’m now approaching the three-month mark, and during that time I’ve missed only five days of poker engagement. Most of my work so far has been studying, training with solvers, and reviewing strategy, while my actual playing volume has been lower.

For the next month, I plan to create a better balance and aim for roughly a 50/50 split between studying and playing.

The journey continues.

That sounds good.

I used to play a single table while watching videos. I think it helped me since I could visualize on the table ideas discussed in the video.
Sometimes though, I'd be paying attention to the video and miss things happening on the table, and vice versa.

Hey guys,

I’ve been off the grid for about a month, mostly because there hasn’t been much new to report.

I’m still playing on two tables and staying connected to poker almost every day through sessions, hand reviews, and solver work. I did miss five days during this period, mainly because I went to a Sabaton concert, which was honestly the best break I’ve had in a long time.

Now I’m back at the tables and continuing the grind. I’ll post more updates when there is something new to share.

The journey continues.
