noooooooo you dont fold to a small bet raise. you have insane odds to call .. at least call and see the turn. lets see

22c in the pot you bet 5c he raises to 10c whichj you have to pay 5c to see the turn. the pot is now 32c (sorry if im wrong its 2.20am here) .. so you have to call 5c to win a pot of mimum 32c plus you get to see the turn.

i think you know what i mean even if my calculations are wrong :) you have to pay the smallest of smallest bet to win a decent big pot.

Well I hold nothing.
I have 4 outs to the straight.
From an odds perspective I guess I would need about 0.55 to call profitably,
at least my chart says so. 11 times the amount to bet.
Only reason I bet was to try to steal the pot since I both had initiative and a gutshot.
With only one opponent a bluff was in order.
I can't see why the pot size would be the deciding factor, so you better do the math again I think.

I was wondering if there was any other reasons to call besides odds.

if you had a gut shot and you folded to 1 small bet. thats a clear no no regardless the math ..

Hmm...
What redeems the gutshot besides the math/odds?

first of all you dont have a gut shot in this hand .. but gut shot is always callable for 1 sb .. always. especially since its a raised pot. pot is too big to fold to 1 sb . with a gut shot..

keep in mind you dont have a gut shot in this hand. more like a backdoor gut shot. if you can call it that.

Omg I don't.... xD
I was sure I had a gutshot in that hand and hadn't really double checked...
Oh well a good lesson to learn to double check the hands you think you have... _o:

I will respectfully disagree on the gutshot for now since it makes no sense to me. ;)

can you elaborate on why you dont think you should call flop with a gut shot always ? you have a draw. it would be the same as saying not to call a flush draw on the board. im not saying you should call turn again with your simple gut shot because then its going to cost you too much compared to what you can win.

A gutshot only gives you 4 outs, pot should be 11 times bet for it to make sense in the long run.
0.55 in this case

A flush draw gives you 9 outs, pot should be 5 times bet for it to make sense in the long run.
0.25 in this case.

Hence a gutshot is a fold since the pot contained 0.37, but a flush draw would be a call.
Now without any other reason why, I just don't see the point of pursuing such weak odds.

Maybe I get a weak table image or something, I dunno...

This is an easy fold when raised

You have a back-door draw to a 1 card straight, 2 unders to the middle and no-backdoor flush...that's what we philosophers call "A Godawful Hand"

If you had a gutshot here it's an easy call not only from the fact your hand will often have implied odds and more outs than you think but also due to the fact if you're folding hands as strong as gutshots to flop raises it will most likely be profitable to raise you with any 2 cards becasue you'll be folding way more than the 28% of your SB opening range than is needed to make a raise profitable

Hmm that makes sense.
So I need to understand implied odds witch I don't, and also the folding any two cards part.
I've had a feeling some people where raising me with any two cards and I didn't know what to do with it.
Well nice to know where to look after I've handled the stuff I'm trying to get my head around right now. _biggrin:

I've never learned implied odds, I will read up on it.
Now things start making sense again. ;)

From my reading so far I need 3 maybe 4 more SB won from my oponent to call.
Since he will put in at least 2BB to stay until showdown it is plausible that I will manage to extract
the needed money from him if I hit my draw on the turn.

Very educational.
Thanks guys.
