PokerStars - $0.25 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players

Hero (BTN): 123.4 BB
SB: 100 BB
BB: 100 BB 2 tables

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 8♣ A♣

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 2.1 BB, SB calls 1.6 BB, BB raises to 8.4 BB, Hero raises to 19.3 BB, fold, BB calls 10.9 BB

Flop: (40.7 BB, 2 players) 7♠ 8♥ 9♠
BB checks, Hero checks

Didn't see value in betting, maybe to take the pot down but is it +EV?

Turn: (40.7 BB, 2 players) Q♠
BB bets 24 BB, Hero calls 24 BB

Not sure about this call but it still may be a bluff from his side.

River: (88.7 BB, 2 players) 6♦
BB bets 56.7 BB and is all-in, fold

Don't think my hand is good.

BB wins 84.7 BB

Hey G,

When people 3bet small enough that you can also 4bet small and consequently have your 4bet called, try to not be very polarised with your 4bets. I'd go as far as saying be completely depolarised, probably safer than including too much air.

Postflop is always tough but I'd start by cbetting small. Even if you are ahead, your hand benefits so much from taking the pot down that staying aggressive is probably higher EV than trying to get to showdown. Whenever you 4bet weak and get called though, your EV for the postflop play will be low, maybe even negative so think if your preflop 4bet is good enough given FE you might have there.

Agree to you. That's why I asked this one, had doubts about issues you mentioned and decided to clarify them.

And what 3b sizing can we treat as small?

Whatever 3bet sizing that enables you to 4bet small enough for them to call. I know it sounds vague.. usually giving 2.5:1 with like 2x pot left to play behind.

You can adjust your sizings ofc, even vs a small 3bet you can 4bet a big on the bigger size or the other way around. The more people can call you though, the more depolarised you should be.
