I think this cbet it not optimal. You are out of position so I would check call this one.
That river bet might be a bluff but there is nothing you can do with second pair no kicker.

I think you should raise 2-2,2 bbs from sb. On the flop you should follow a check-call strategy oop.
On the turn he takes from you the lead bet showing you enough strength and you should fold with a second pair.

I think there's two similar approaches here:
1) Cbet Flop and quit on the Turn - (you are almost turning into a bluff your 2nd pair).
2) Check/call once (Flop, Turn or River) and quit to a second bet (induce a bluff).

I guess it depends on the opponent. But in general this flop is better to play passive. It hit's a lot your opponent range, but also you've got some showdown value.

I don't think we get many folds by cbetting and we might be just donating money to better hands. To me cbetting and not cbetting are very different lines here. And since we are OOP with a mid pair I think we should not be cbetting this.

I agree. We are certainly c-betting many worse hands (and better), and if we c-bet this as well, then it is just too much.

I hope you mean raise 2-2.2 bb, not making it 2-2.2 bb total, thus raising 1-1.2 bb. If I were in BB and if it would be possible for me to call or reraise more than 100% when raised 1-1.2 bb, I'd do so. Making the game twice as big with no fold equity and with no hand OOP is just a waste of money.

I don't hate the line but I think I agree with c/c-ing the flop (along with most Jx in our range + maybe some weak Ax + total air like 54s). I would c-bet most all gutters (stuff like K8s). Either way, this might be a flop where you can bet smaller than the sizing you used as well- you shouldn't need much to get him off stuff like 88.
