If you missed this one definitely check it out

I realized I mentioned it but didn't tell you what the Beginner's course is
And just follow it blindly until you start breaking even at NL2

A former serious Starcraft player should have no issues following build orders :)
(you would fold almost all the suited connectors you played in the vid)

Thank you nasvov and Lemon36,

As any person trying something new, they arn't an expert over night. So I know i'm bad at poker right now and there is a lot of the fundamentals I need to learn. Don't worry about "attacking me" or making me feel bad, as I take all of the advice as constructive criticism even if it's said bluntly, as I understand that's the fastest way to address mistakes.

The link to the guide on 6max was excellent Lemon, I got a lot of changes to my game to make!

That said, I'll upload my chart, which is sad but not unexpected given the mistakes i've been making... I take a small amount solace in the fact i've paid $13 rake, down 14$ EV, Totalling -$27 and played over 10k hands over the last 10days, yet have not busted.

Hey man. Does what people write here makes you feel bad!? No!!! LOVE what Lemon and others are doing for you!!! It should make you feel .....!

Second. Your chart is not sad! You've bent your line from down to horizontal! That is result!

Oh... at 2NL do not worry about your red line. Below mine at 2NL.

I really have NO CLUE what others made at 2NL so maybe my green line isn't that good but hey.. I'm happy with the result.

Cheers :f_drink:

PS Again.. everybody already told you. You try to play too advanced without having the miles.

Hi sc2zerker, no worries, you are doing great so far. You are thinking about your game, trying to find the leaks, listening to what others say. Thats a great start. Give it some time and youre gonna be fine. Looking at your graphs it tells me one thing. You are probably too aggressive and too loose for your limit. Correct me if I am wrong but your redline is around break-even and your showdown winnings are going down which is unusual on micro stakes. RubbyDubbys graph is much more typical for a microstakes player.

So my most important tip for you would be to tighten up. You dont wanna get into too many difficult situations postflop. The goal on micros should be to play tight, solid and be focused on value. And I saw the video and it confirmed what I thought, you defend too many marginal hands which creates a lot of marginal situations post flop. You should also learn the correct terms. A bet is not a raise and a gutshot is not a backdoor straight draw :)

Best of luck :f_drink:

10k hands seems like too much to me honestly :)
You should play very few tables and review hands heavily when you're starting out

I've got a lot of free time at the moment, So i'm burning about 10hrs+ a day on poker, something like 4-6hrs play(3tables - 6 tables), 2-4hrs study....

don't judge me!!! :)

I'd cut tables when you're starting out, there should never be a reason to play more than four really
you're not winning and are still learning anyways, more tables just makes you burn through the $ faster
I think going with 2-3 thinking everything through is the way to go when you're first learning.

But hey, I never play more than 3-4 regular tables and I'm a full-time pro, maybe I'm biased

Lemon,

Currently I'm 4 tabling while I re-learn my strategy. I have spread sheets with ranges, some rules about certain situations spread around my desk and thinking about certain situations, which all slow me down... I do want to end up playing 8-16 tables at a time for volume, once I have my ranges and strategy solid.

I'm following the guide you linked to me to and i'm on an upswing right now.. It's a lot different than how I was playing so thats a good sign, playing differently with different results.

I do need a larger hand sample though.

Well i'm not sure how I feel right now... Broke even with my EV won, so I wanted to update... -13.5Buy-in's Net overall though...

Perhaps I should read more about bankroll management when this happens, i guess?

I'm happy that i've improved as a player, but sad about the shitty luck i've had lately... I think overall, I'm more happy than sad because increasing my skill at poker is long term, the poor luck is temporary.

Also I posted a hand for review on NL2, check it out it was quite interesting...

This is a common but a big mistake you are making (That I've made too when I started haha)
There's just 0 reasons to post the past graph whatsoever
In poker every time you start a session the past doesn't matter, the future doesn't matter, the hand you're in is the only thing that does.

Think of every week, day, session, hour and a hand as a fresh start
Your BR is X, you do Y with it doesn't matter how you get there except for using longer term results to see if you're on the right path.
Posting the past 26k hands constantly and thinking about it or whatever just creates unnecessary noise that distracts you from the only thing that matters - the hand you're in right now when you're at the tables

Same with showing EV line
It's just your brain wanting pity and feel better, focusing on it again will take away from your mind resources.

Just grind, post the current session and be proud of them 11hrs (on too many tables tho I assume :P)

Yow... My last post in this thread.

Yes you run below EV big time and that sucks ... BUT

Below my graph when I did run below EV in another challenge and I :censored: :censored: :censored: about it too:

About 6 buy-ins below EV in 7K hands BUT........!!!
The EV line goes up.

Yours is a straight line. Not good enough.

I posted these tips here in your blog a week or two ago.

a) Find a tight opening range based on position (maybe someone else can point one out here).
b) Fold when your hand is not in that range!!
c) Try to understand the importance of position ( !!! IT IS MASSIVE INSANELY IMPORTANT!!!! ). In other words, avoid AT ALL cost to play out of position.
d) Try to keep the pot small with 'small' hands (sooo much easier in position, here you go).
e) Get the pot as big as possible with 'big' hands.
f) Do not call all ins with small hands!

I like this one the best:
'Avoid AT ALL cost to play out of position'

!!! USE THOSE TIPS !!!

:f_drink:

PS ah.. and my latest poker wisdom: 'To fold or to bet is cheaper then to call!'.

Hey Rubby,

I did read your post, thanks for the tips.

I didn't reply because i wasn't sure if there wasn't anything i could add as the the post's information was fairly to point.

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm trying my best to focus on game.

Yeah sorry was a bit of a reaction to this hand and this.

avoid AT ALL cost to play out of position.

Trust me here.. When you implement this rule, poker life at 2NL will become so easy.

Well, I finally broke out of the negative values for now... i'm not too worried about breaking my bank. +(28 buy-in's)

It'd be nice to continue on this trend... but im trying not to get to excited and focus on good game play...

If at some point my bank gets big enough I might beable to move up to NL5
