Actually I am still not sure if I could have found a fold in retrospect.But It was literally the first hand of the tournament, and floor intervened in the middle
By god, I've been sick like never before, but I've finally put out this awesome interview.
Basically, after the Championship bust out I got very sick, spending a whole day in a dark room with blinds down, luckily the Encore has Alexa hooked to all lights and drapes and a bathtub I could use. But it was Vegas baby so I used the big pharma USA power and drugged hard and powered through.
I am still paying the price now, my back is sprained and I'm still a lil sick, the Christmas debauchery with my friends where I had one Latina and one British Xmas didn't help I even lost yo Kyyberi...again...next time we for sure clash in poker!
But I finally processed the interview with Adam Pliska. He's the CEO of WPT, but a former producer who contributed to such gems as the New Lassie and Baywatch. He was also a big shot lawyer before he got to WPT through a bit of a fluke.
I think the biggest takeaway for me was that
$2.4 million overlay was not a big deal, and that poker players are not taken as customers primarily who generate rake like you are online.
Not really, Adam explained that between the logistics and other costs the income from player rake at WPT is an aftertgought.
Rather, it's a TV and streaming show that sells their licenses and product through syndication. They call players the 'Talent' and I was surprised at that during the interview honestly.
Basically, WPT needs you to have a good time, to show you have a good time, to show big numbers and scale, show diverse players and characters in the product they sell to their actual customers - the viewers.
So you have these free parties, cameras swooping to random tables, and the staff proactively trying to make sure you have a good time.
The local rich businessmen play the $10.4 k, firing multiple bullets not for the money, but to have a shot and making the TV and streams and showing their pals the good time they had.
It was pretty funny when after I busted the guys at my table all assumed I will be firing more $10,400 bullets and wished me luck in them, so I also have a shot at some nice proper TV Show final table. One day maybe, one day.
I have a bunch of footage from One Drop and The Championship behind the scenes production and will try to bring that to you in the coming days so you can see just how much of a TV Show it actually is - there was not much of a difference between the taping of a WPT Final table and a large Presidential debate I've been to made by national TV, except the crew trying to have shorter delays so they don't disrupt the players too much.

Damn, my youtube is on an upswing from posting all the videos. With all the WPT content I spent literal weeks on, my most popular video is a 13 second NL10 short I put together in an hour - I hate modern attention spans.
One last WPT vid from the vault, I forgot I had this where I went "into the field" to ask completely random players about the WPT Atmosphere. It's too bad I was so sick and later on drugs (legal :P) for most of my stay, otherwise, we would have a ton of these with some fun bits thrown in - I can have real "Billy on the Streets" vibes when I'm on my A-game.
That's going to be it - I was sick till this day, at least we had a nice spread of vids - I will do a proper MTT strategy review in a few weeks, and probably start a normal blog too for good measure, thanks for watching, and let's hope I will have a chance to go again one day, but next time actually win some money for the people who raffle off a piece
