Your line is good vs a maniac bluffer but he will have you beat many times. I dont know his stats but he could easily have 2x, 67, set, 2pair, etc

I think I read somewhere that vs these maniac guys you must play stronger hands than normal and/or try to be in position always. This way you can go for pot control if unsure.

Vs this guy i'd bet bigger on flop and turn.
$13 on the flop, then the pot is $40 at the turn where you can bet $33, so at the river the pot is $106 and you have $48 left - perfect to stick it in and get called by surprising hands :P.

As played I'd still bet the river if he only bets either nut or air hands himself.
He will be checking back Ax or middle pocket pairs against which you'll lose value.
That is most of his range imo.
So check/calling is kind of a negative freeroll because you'll get it in vs all his better hands.

Maybe I didn't quite describe how much of a maniac he is

He will pretty much ship any situation in which he thinks he could get something to fold ( In this spot he e.g. had QTo )

Considering this would you still prefer the bet? Not sure if he calls midpair against such strength.

Ok, if he's that crazy at the river, and - most important - capable of turning medium hands into a bluff i definitely prefer a check/call at the river.

In this case the part of his range he's betting is much bigger than the part he could be calling.
