I'll take that you're just kidding, but on a more serious note I really think that holding out for 10 000 can't be that hard. Play as a rock with only premium hands and that should do it. Come on, for 10 000 hands you can just get lucky! Or not? :f_biggrin: :f_biggrin:

Btw, you just need to tell me that something cannot be done :f_biggrin: For me it's like a red cloth for a bull :f_biggrin: :f_biggrin: :f_biggrin:

p.s. I am talking only FR here btw, I have no experience in 6-max whatsoever and I am not THAT stupid to try 6-max at 8 times my normal limit :f_biggrin: :f_biggrin: :f_biggrin: :f_biggrin:

Yes, on the serious note your opponents at NL400 are likely much better than you, but not good enough to crush you in short term. You have good chances of surviving a certain amount of hands or even come out ahead, but that's likely variance and I don't think your goal is to suck out on those guys. Your goal should be playing against weaker opponents.

It could be that you'd do fine at NL100 for example, plenty of donks there. So if your friend really wants to stake you, play at NL100 for like 20 000 hands and see how it goes. Analyse your game, see how many sets and preflop monsters did you hit etc, to figure out whether you're beating those guys. Then there might come a day when you can try out NL400 without the fear of burning money.

Thats my opinion.

And that is exactly what I did before I read this post. :f_biggrin: I told him that I will try NL100 at my pace (probably just one table) for 20 000 hands and see how it goes.

On the more serious note - as I said, he is a gambler and he would allow me to play at NL400 too, I know that. That's his approach to poker. I just don't want to lose the money. I might need it later :f_cool:

As we already settled in another topic, higher stakes are softer than micros. So yeap, you can beat NL400. You know what, fuck NL400, go to NL10k and play Isildur.

At least people respect your raises

If your staker won't hunt your family down to get their kidneys and livers and other human body parts that are used in a transplant for $$$ and if he won't cut your toes and play air hockey with them with a three-legged tortoise named "Rupert" then it's definetly a YES,GO FOR IT!!!

(P.S.: Your staker will probably have sexual intercourse with several members of your family, elders included;scratch that:especially elders.Just saying.)

why not just stake you for big tourney?

The part where someone said "they arnt good enough to crush you short-term" is just... like wow. The players on boss media are superpassive, even tables (SH ones) are 5handed instead of 6handed.

What happens when people move up in stakes is they adjust in the wrong way... all the 3b/4b-ing preflop can def make one get his money in dominated in alot of spots, aswell as so many postflop scenarios...

I really don't think a NL25 player (from boss none the less) could beat NL400, even short term. Sure they can luckbox a few buyins but even that seems less likey in my eyes. If he wants to put his money on the line let him stake you for a bunch of 100$ MTT's instead lol :P

Boss is Poker Heaven and stuff amirite? Then yea, I'd doubt that nl25 reg from boss could beat nl25 on stars even, much more less so nl400 :f_biggrin:

I was going to comment earlier but then i forgot or something.

But i'm surprised at how many people say just take money and play NL400.. going from NL25 on a relatively easy site to NL400 on one of the hardest is a huge step. And i would never take a staking deal like that because i wouldn't be playing NL25 if i could beat NL400.. If you were a very good NL25 stars player then i'd definetly give NL100 a shot (from my perspecive as a SH player). But your winning at around 10bb/100 on NL25 and on a softer site so you might not be able to beat NL100 on stars to be honest.

Sounds a bit negative but just being realistic. What i would do is play a few thousand hands(2-3k) on NL50 FR on stars first and see how it's like. If you feel confident then move up to NL100. Study a lot and take it very seriously. Since your also playing FR instead of SH it's a lot more likely that you can beat it in my opinion.

i dont think anyones really suggesting he can beat NL400 over a sample, more like everyone is suggesting he has nothing to lose

I'm just saying it's a very selfish way to think and i find that very sad that people will abuse someone's generosity that badly for a possible good outcome. You basicaly fuck the staker over for a chance to run hot and keep part of it.. How much worse is it to just keep the money all together? Your basicaly doing the same thing but are guaranteed to a lot of money. Your also fucking up staking opportunities for other people by losing that money. And you don't really gain anything from blowing it all trying to run good on NL400. you will go bust eventually unless you show massive signs of improvement. Instead you could take this to grind a higher limit you think you should be able to beat with a lot/some studying to rise through the limits faster.

Yeah I agree with hahaowned on this. I cant really speak for OP but for me play NL400 would most probably tilt my balls off and have a bad effect on my game even when I dropped back down

I have decided to take the offer and try out NL100. Yesterday was my first day. If interested, you can read about what happened in my blog.
