Laptop with two external monitors

havent gone around to try the setup yet because i can't find a converter here in my country and too lazy to order online :/

If you want two monitors, you are way better off building your own pc. Laptops are just not designed for that

I just found one on ebay that has both HDMI & VGA adaptors so I'll give that a go.

Problem is I had just bought a new laptop when I decided I wanted another monitor, so I was just going to try & make that work.

I am using same. VGA and HDMI is correct way to go and u must switch off laptop screen under settingsaand u are good to go. But yeah after awhile my laptop is getting hammered by over working. I always have a ton of pages and apps running + monitors and everyday growing pt4 database. So thinking to go for desktop now

+1 on having a desktop for everyday grinding.

Thanks Robert, but I think I'm doing something wrong.

I go into display>screen resolution, pick mobile PC display & choose disconnect so the laptop screen turns off. But then the monitor that is connected via HDMI still says no cable connected.

It's weird because it still recognizes it in the settings

is this for the tri monitor setup?

are you planning on turning off you laptop screen and letting the externals work, or are you using everything?

Well if it works with the laptop screen open I suppose I would use all three. If not I'd be happy with just the two external monitors

Done it long ago.. anyway if I remember correct you can only use 2 for expanded and 3 for dublicates (no use for poker)

Select 1 monitor for primary and for me example if I change cables hdmi & cha from one to another then they will not work. Altough monitors are identical. Hope this made any sense. So try swapping cables.

Thanks for the tip had a quick go, but neither monitor seems to like the HDMI cable.

I'll play around with it tomorrow, if not I'll just have to hope the USB/VGA works when it arrives.

@Phgrinder, my USB to VGA adapter arrived. Plugged it in & everything worked straight away

Only issue I had was that the idiots that I bought it off didn't supply me with the 5 pin USB cable that plugs into the adapter
Luckily I had one from my USB hub that fits.

so i take it your playing with your laptop + 2 external monitors now? i should try that also.

can you recommend a good VGA - USB adaptor?

Yeh I have all three running atm, but I'm not really using the laptop screen, so I'll probably keep it shut & use the two monitors.

It's USB to DVI, but has attachments for VGA & HDMI. Seems fairly good quality

Other than that I don't really know of any, its just the one I found on ebay that best matched what I was looking for.
