^ if you've read the above, congratulations! you probably have too much time in your hands, as well as a reasonable attention span. ofc these are good things
if you have THAT much time and THAT much attention span (and probably also THAT much boredom), you might want to consider continuing to read

now well, i am not exactly rolled, but that's at least monies for some shots at fr100 zoom. i feel at least as scared as when i wanted to move up 10->25, probably even more because this just means SOOOOO much on so many levels.

this is the point where with rakeback and volume i could make a reasonable living (not super baller, but definitely good enough) out of this. maybe could even help my parents by going a little further.
also... this is THE final boss of fullring fast poker tables. nl200+ just never runs.

so i have been watching the names playing there for a while. saw some familiar faces from nl50, some good, some not that good, a fair share of fish also. but also a lot of different 4-tabling guys, which i suppose that are mostly some really good players.
looked up some of them... one of them has a blog somewhere and has been crushing midstakes since past year, other guy has over 200k in pretty consistant mtt wininngs, and a few more such curriculums.

also i've been reading the nl100+ evaluations since i got gold status back on nl5 :f_biggrin:
since then i've always thought (and even now i still do) "wow, that's deep. i wish i could think like that". now... guess i should finally step up?

i guess that of course that's all to be expected in the highest fr zoom game running. still, whew, that's scary. it's just so much going on.

so... my point?
i have no idea really, just saying what has been coming to mind. maybe i'll do some coaching/whatever and stick to 50 for some more time.

to antecipate a question... "are you going to move to SH?"
yeah, in the long term probably. but i want to clear this first.

actually i did play some fr100 action today. this is how it went:

Spoiler

i'm not even sure how to evaluate it. 200 hands, whatever.

pic unrelated

[edit: monthly recap ended up being thrown to the previous page. just in case you somehow didn't want to accidentally miss it, post link (actually i doubt that you really care. i don't blame you)]

thank you sir :f_biggrin: i also hope so :f_cry:

i decided to stick to nl100 today because weekends are just too tempting.

Spoiler

NL100 is a quite interesting place. by now i think that at least weekends should be profitable
let's have some hands for your entertainment:

this is how to play top set like a jackass

PokerStars - $1 NL ZOOM - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $98.50
SB: $78.38
BB: $107.00
UTG: $244.78
UTG+1: $73.14
UTG+2: $359.85
Hero (MP): $105.53
MP+1: $119.13
CO: $124.12

SB posts SB $0.50, BB posts BB $1.00

Pre Flop: (pot: $1.50) Hero has T♥ T♠

fold, UTG+1 raises to $3.00, fold, Hero calls $3.00, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold

Flop: ($7.50, 2 players) K♦ Q♦ J♠
UTG+1 checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($7.50, 2 players) 9♣
UTG+1 bets $7.16, Hero calls $7.16

River: ($21.82, 2 players) 7♦
UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $7.16, ...

this is an "irony bet". you bet the amount that villain bet in the previous street

UTG+1 calls $7.16

Hero shows T♥ T♠ (Straight, King High) (Pre 19%, Flop 25%, Turn 75%)
UTG+1 mucks K♣ K♥ (Three of a Kind, Kings) (Pre 81%, Flop 75%, Turn 25%)
Hero wins $34.51

well, his play makes no sense. whatever
now i'll show you how to setmine profitably on nl100

PokerStars - $1 NL ZOOM - Holdem - 9 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: $103.69
SB: $64.19
BB: $100.14
UTG: $114.03
UTG+1: $51.18
UTG+2: $100.00
MP: $167.38
Hero (MP+1): $99.91
CO: $98.08

SB posts SB $0.50, BB posts BB $1.00

Pre Flop: (pot: $1.50) Hero has 6♠ 6♣

fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $2.87, CO calls $2.87, fold, fold, BB raises to $4.74, Hero calls $1.87, CO calls $1.87

Flop: ($14.72, 3 players) 6♦ 9♦ J♥
BB checks, Hero bets $7.77, fold, BB raises to $22.57, Hero raises to $44.44, BB raises to $95.40 and is all-in, Hero calls $50.73 and is all-in

Turn: ($205.06, 2 players) 5♣

River: ($205.06, 2 players) 9♣

BB shows A♦ 2♦ (One Pair, Nines) (Pre 34%, Flop 25%, Turn 16%)
Hero shows 6♠ 6♣ (Full House, Sixes full of Nines) (Pre 66%, Flop 75%, Turn 84%)
Hero wins $202.26

actually i knew that this guy was bad but he was running pretty tight and at a super low 3bet% so his hand was totally unexpected.
i was totally expecting something like QQ+, with FD combos only in A:d K:d and by a long shot A:d Q:d

lesson: all fish are unpredictable, even nitfish

so... what about the "new regs"?
i guess there is one main point: they have a raise button. and they like to use it in position.

still i guess i'm going to avoid hero calldowns with J high for the while

So now you will play NL100 fulltime?

heh, that's the plan. :f_biggrin:
however for now i consider it just as shot-taking, i'll move down if i lose "a lot". not sure how much that is but def moving down if i hit under 2k

i know that the basic article talks about 25bi brm, but that's just not enough for the limit. that seems to be the general opinion by players and coaches.
people are just that more aggressive, and you should be also

Gz on the move up!

Let's hope you manage to stay on, but don't be too stubborn to move down and rebuild if needed!

thank you sir :f_biggrin:

figured i should give you an update:

Spoiler

played too much while tired, rumour has it that i lost about at least 2 BI due to some god damn awful plays.
with all that i'm surprised that i'm still making an EV bucks profit. however, damn it, this is NOT the time to be running under EV! ONE (more) TIME :f_cry:

point: i feel that my a-game is profitable.
however, my b-game is most likely not profitable, and my c-game is DEFINITELY not profitable (euphemism for "much to the opposite")
when off my a-game i should immediately nit up. i spew a loooot in marginal spots, feel that i can most likely still breakeven if i just revert to "ABC" and "table select"

anyway, after the massive downers there i decided to switch from tilted pokers to tilted chess.
now what's that about? well, tilted chess plays pretty much the same as tilted pokers, except that you don't lose any money. that's a big plus imo

it's tough to put it in words, so see some games to see what i mean:

game 1 (def recommended)
game 2
game 3

games are 1 minute for each side + 1 second bonus for each move

seriously, i run really bad when it comes to kings into aces. :f_biggrin:

i know what they say - if you are seeing aces a bit too often, then you are probably not 4betting+ enough. but damn it, these guys always have only like 200-1k hands on me, and i am not a THAT huge 4bet/stackoff nit. :f_biggrin: i should at least get a fair share of aces into kings :f_cry:

[edit]
this suckout means something cool tho:

fun i guess

thoughts at the time: fairly unknown fishy guy and i want to charge his draws (aha) and random one pair hands, and i'm ready for the likely flip if he ships.
his min3bet though is super strong, more than a ship :P i 100% know that i am screwed and he has a set all the time. however with the money in the pot i should have barely enough equity to ship the monies MAY YOU HAVE FINGER CANCER MAN - eh, i mean, keep on playing and have a good time :f_biggrin:

post analysis: turns out that with rake i am a few % short against a range of only sets, but i was expecting him to have a wide range at the time i raised. didn't know that i'd face a min3bet :f_cry: )

after the min3bet calling is probably theoretically better since i am pretty sure about what he has, but in the heat of rage i am not sure that i'd be able to get away if A or K came... and my read could be wrong (which most likely would mean that i get a flip which is cool) :f_biggrin:

so i have no regrets :f_biggrin:

Turn: ($139.50, 2 players) Q♣

River: ($139.50, 2 players) 7♦

UTG+2 shows 3♠ 3♦ (Three of a Kind, Threes) (Pre 51%, Flop 74%, Turn 23%)
Hero shows K♣ A♣ (Flush, Ace High) (Pre 49%, Flop 26%, Turn 77%)
Hero wins $136.70

the other suckout on the graph was that KK into AA hand.
so, guys, so easy is poker! ship it and hit it, fish have been doing this since the beginning of time

hello everyone! fr100 shot is over.

Spoiler

that EV line is a stupid liar.
i ran worse than bad, i ran sickeningly god damn awful. for the first time in a while i've felt poker pain, that horrible pain that poker pros have to learn to love. on the wrong side of coolers all the time

that's my feeling right now. i'm writing this post because i couldn't sleep

now please let me whine.

let's go through every big pot:

utg guy was some maniac fish if you were about to ask.

i feel that i actually played my a-game through all that bullshit which explains how i ended up losing relatively little considering all that, but in the end i finally gave in and tilted off about 1BI. not "damn you all i'm open shoving 76s" type of tilt, but bleed monies type of tilt. (aka c-game)

now well, as you may see, the graph already had a worse low.
that means that i could continue, but i just can't endure anything close to another day like today, and this is pretty much close to the lower bound that i had set from the beginning.

so yeah, rebuild roll, try to run better! much love, may you all also run better than this

Sick hands man... but this is the reason why I stopped playing Zoom... Too many KKvsAA and not many the other way around to compensate... Also to see AAvsKKvsQQ 3 times in a 2 hour session was a bit too much for me.

Could be just variance, go down, rebuild bankroll, get back and crush them :) May the Variance be with you!

yeah, whatever.

the aftermath:

thoughts on nl100?
average aggression levels are even higher, but not everyone's being a total maniac. there's a considerably higher amount of lighter flop raises and preflop bluffing, and 5bet jamming rag Ax or something...

the regs, well... i felt like a "standard reg".
that sucks, because you always want to be a "good reg" and the thought of being a breakeven rakeback grinder makes me sick. :f_biggrin:
i don't think i have an edge on most of the field, and i feel that enough regs have some/a considerable edge on me.

there are enough of fish though, perhaps also lured by the thought of playing on the highest fr zoom limit.
ironically most of my biggest losses were vs fish/regfish :f_biggrin:

considering the whole picture things didn't go that bad, survived 8.5k hands on the limit and only 2.5BI down in total...
however just thinking about that last run makes me feel a bad taste in my mouth.
i mean, it's not THAT much about the money, but rather about how intensely and quickly the hands came and that this was a shot, ie underrolled and x2 stakes and everything which makes for intensified pain.

i could not take a day like that again anytime soon.
so to prevent further stomach pains and temptation from playing nl100 to GET IT BACK (and because it is sunday) i went ahead and made a cashout for $444.

the main point is that it makes my roll feel really low for nl100 which will make me avoid these tables for the while.
the other point... get something nice for myself! (which i don't really know what it may be)
i have built this from just $50 after all, poker is not only coolers and pain :f_eek: i should reward myself with some random little something by now, maybe a new monitor and speakers (something i'll be using all the time), partyhard and give some to parents perhaps.

yeah, that's it i guess

cashier:

Spoiler

definitely feeling super poor now

plans:

- practice a more aggro style on nl50
- rebuild roll to 3k before moving up again. i didn't really play too much like scared money when shooting, but these games are variance heavy and moving up and down repeatedly is painful

also, i apologize for the heavy whining. :f_biggrin:
you readers know that there is usually not a lot of whining here, but that was some necessary venting :P

poker nirvana - "i run good, i am playing my best, i don't give a damn about the money involved".

the joys of moving down! :f_biggrin: also i feel like i have an edge on most people again

i hated this card at the time, went for some value vs Jx before c/f river. think a 2/3 bet was better though.

the other (very) good thing about being comfortably rolled is that we don't care too much when we lose a big pot. :f_biggrin:

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.75) Hero has T♦ T♥

Hero raises to $1.69, fold, UTG+2 raises to $4.50, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls $2.81

Flop: ($9.75, 2 players) 8♠ T♠ J♥
Hero checks, UTG+2 bets $6.50, Hero raises to $75.23 and is all-in, ...

thought process:

guy is a weakish reg with about 2% 3bet. guess what is his range for 3betting vs utg...

on this board i have the nuts all the time because he is not 3betting JJ. since both of us don't want to see a ton of cards i just go for c/shove and let him have the guessing game with the overpair that he has 95% of the time (the other 5% of the time i'm wrong and he has JJ or AK spades)

UTG+2 calls $68.73

Hero shows T♦ T♥ (Three of a Kind, Tens) (Pre 19%, Flop 88%)
UTG+2 shows A♦ A♣ (One Pair, Aces) (Pre 81%, Flop 12%)

Turn: ($160.21, 2 players) A♠

River: ($160.21, 2 players) J♠

Hero shows T♦ T♥ (Full House, Tens full of Jacks) (Pre 19%, Flop 88%, Turn 2%)
UTG+2 shows A♦ A♣ (Full House, Aces full of Jacks) (Pre 81%, Flop 12%, Turn 98%)
UTG+2 wins $157.71

i was surprisingly calm after this.
playing overrolled is so underrated :f_eek: that feeling of "AHA that suckout can't hurt me!"

i've been really happy with my play these days, playing a solid slightly-LAG nl100 style putting on pressure and making good thin valuebets. running reasonably well helps :f_biggrin:

thank you sir, i've evaluated a few hands already

apparently my karma reward is to have variance rape me:

Spoiler

admittedly i could be EV-bucks breakeven if i didn't spaz out in a few 4bets and 4bet pots, also made a bad stackoff with AK against a super obvious KK+ range. :f_biggrin:

afterthoughts:

- if a guy has like 3% 3bet, DO NOT 4bet him light no matter how weak his sizing is or what is the situation
- DO NOT 4bet light against fish, even if they are oop and very aggressive with preflop raising and 3betting they don't like folding
- run better :f_biggrin:

for your amusement:
