for me the formula was simple. When I realized I am running too small of a BR, I started to look for games that would suit my BR much better. I found that I had no more than 10 BIs for ZOOM. So I searched for games, that would give me better option for my money. Where I get 10 BIs for ZOOM at best, I got 40 BIs in slow BB structures on 90 mans STTs.
40 BIs is not ideal, but it completely removed my tilt. Plus.. I have realized pretty quickly, that with some of my new skills, I can comfortably beat them approximately 50% of time, where I would be supposed (mathematically against lvl field) to get ITM only 15% of time (also when you win, you don't win just one-two BI as in cash game, but 20+ BIs, which definitely helps one's BR).. Since then I became what I call big winner on my level and within less than a month moved from 0.25$ STTs to 11$ MTTs (if I wish to play them). And that being said. I have won only 3 so far. I am slowly learning how to close tourneys, but coming accross some strange spots, that I still can't deal with at 5 handed table.
The move came so quick, that I have now rather problem to decide what to play.
I have 100 BIs rule for STTs, MTTs. I know MTTs I should have bigger BR.
As I am leveling myself nowadays what to play, the best shot perhaps is to play where I have my top BRM at.
I was thinking that I can toss in multitabling of 6 tables with 1$ BI, which would (most likely) hurt my win-rate but then this other thought streamlined: I should go and play those 11$ tourneys and get as much experience against players that play on that level. I expect (even though I became less optimistic) much stronger play on higher level. Therefore I can learn heaps within that limit. One other thought is, that if I play 1$ tables with money I don't have to care about, I will start spewing them. One last thought, was to cut away the money that represent this 1$ to 11$ money jump and keep grinding until I make it to 11$ level naturally.
It is not about chasing money, it is about improving as much as I can and money is just the way to keep the score..
What do you think about my thoughts?
btw I am still looking for some sweat partner on skype, not so much learning group. So if you are open to some occassional discussions. I can show you what I am doing and vice versa
My post flop play though, that needs most focus.. I am sometimes bit spewy but in no way I am thinking as you are, in a line of stats (my own cbets etc..
Good luck in your game and see ya on ZOOM here and there. I won't be moving up from NL2. I keep that level to ocassional training of my post-flop and have no intention to buy in for more than 1$ at a time. No matter how big is my BRM
