Our landlord had emigrated and moved back last month and is getting married this year so he knew long ago he wanted his house back. So giving is 4 weeks and "another 1 or 2 if necessary" is lame. The rental market in this country is fucked atm because there has been 0 houses built in the last 7 years or so!There is a rule here that if a landlord want to convert the house back to personal use he has to give 6 month's notice. If it turns out he was just "pretending" so he could get a new tenant, he has to pay the evicted tenant's relocation cost, and any difference in rent for a period of time.
But if it is time to move on it's best to get it all behind you.
All the best!

Cheers bro.
I spoke to an estate agent today who said that we should have 8 weeks notice at the minimum. At this point in time though we may have just landed on our feet. Looked at a house today and albeit it's smaller - it's half decent. Don't like rushing but we don't really have a choice as it is literally the only house in the area! Only a mile down the road, slightly closer the town.
What we learn from this episode? You should always be aware what your rights are as a tenant.
We have had our own minor problems with our landlords. Once they thought there is a water damage in our apartment and we kind of got one day(!) notice time to look out some other place to live for a while. Allthough they said that have some other aparment where we could stay. After all there was just a minor water damage in our bathroom and they need to fix whole bathroom and we didn`t have to move.
Should get confirmation of new place today. We've started packing and getting rid of excess clutter. Laptop decided to crash on me on Wednesday night as well and wouldn't start again so it's gone to hospital and probably won't return for a few weeks. I've lost everything poker wise. HM2 database, PokerStars notes, etc. etc.
Need to start running better IRL

Well, we are entitled to 8 weeks and I could raise holy hell and be stubborn and say FU I'm staying here until I'm ready but I know these people (from the locality) and don't wanna be difficult for the sake of it because it's pointless. Anyways, if we get the new place (fingers crossed) we can start moving on and make a new home for ourselves and get all the necessary stuff done.
Have not played anything bar spin and gos since the incident. Still no eta on the laptop return and with the move coming up I'm probably out of action until mid March if not later.
Going to try to ship a 180 playing on the tablet! Quite difficult without stats etc but it wouldn't be a challenge otherwise.
Gonna be playing fuck all but let's give it a go!
A potential new house entered the equation late last night and after a viewing this morning it's more likely that we will take it over the first house.
Pros:
It has an extra bedroom
It is situated in a nicer estate (although it is literally a stone's throw away from the first house
It is detached
It has a utility room
It has a bigger kitchen
Has better views
Cheaper rent
Cons:
It needs one hell of a clean
Smaller master bedroom
Wasn't maintained as well as house #1
Think it looks like house #2 is the winner!
Housing secured.
No word on laptop yet.
#workinprogress #extrammoneytorubontittiesattheendofthemonth
Glad to hear it went so well.
(so far -- fingers crossed for the laptop)
All the best,

BANHAMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been thinking about this alot and I've been trying to quantify this move IRL terms and this is the best I can come up with. It may be very wrong obviously but here we go:
30 years ago:
Employer: Hey, we really like your CV and would like to offer you a position.
Employee: That's great, I've had a few other offers but the idea of this great pension upon retirement sways things in your favour.
Employer: Yes, we offer a generous pension package to all our staff who are loyal and stay with us through thick and thin.
Employee: OK, I'm sold. Screw the other offers! Sign me up!
30 years later:
Employee: Unfortunately, we have decided to change the terms and conditions and you are no longer entitled to your pension. We've had a few very rough years as you know and we can no longer afford to run things in the way we did before.
As a token of our appreciation for your loyalty we are going to give you some raffle tickets where 3 people out of 1 million will win their retirement pension amount.
Employee: .....

Sounds like what my employer is trying to do to my pension at the moment. When you sign up as an academic, the hook is 'the pay may be shit, but you get a great pension'. Basically once I have forty yeas service (12 years to go!) I get half my final salary as a pension, plus 1.5 times my salary as a lump sum......but now they claim they can't afford it any more and are trying to wriggle out of it. It's a real scandal around these parts.
Apparently the estimate of the deficit is based on some fairly ludicrous assumptions, and they're using it as a pretext to screw us over. Sound familiar....?
Pity you didn't get your badge ♦
Oh I see now banning people without showing it to other members...
He was a disruptive influence.
He didn't understand the rules.
When he has learnt his lesson........

.......he will be assimilated into the PS hive mind.
