Hmm... I could've helped if I'd seen this earlier ... I have a christian background but have abandoned the whole religion thing a few years back after I realized it clashes with my personal logic ... either way here's how u could've tried:

In the Holy Bible there's a story about a father and his 2 sons. The father was like a traveling merchant or something like that and he had to go on a trip or something (this is all done on trying to remember the thing from over 10 years back so don't expect every detail to match to perfection :P) and he gave each of his sons 20 talents (which supposedly was a currency in that time and age but it's likely a metaphore for something more complex). Both of the sons thought on their own what they could do with their gift and what their father expected they would do with them. So finaly one decided to bury his 20 talents and give em back to his dad when his returns while the other decided to try himself in buisnes and (possibly not sure on this) other stuff to try find the best way to make more of these talents.
After some time their father returns and one of the sons brings him his 20 talents and tells him something like this: "here dad I kept them safe and made sure they'd be all here when u came back, I hope ur pleased" or something along those lines ...
The other one said "Father I used my 20 talents to try earn more, it was a hard and ardous experience and often times I lost a few but in the long run I have earned these 200 (not sure) xtra, they are urs to do with as u please..."
The father talked to them both and comended the son who went out to earn more talents and was in a way displeased with his other son for not trying develop and improve his talents/assets.

I think this story applies well to ur situation. U need to read ur bible more son if u plan to be a devout christian But in all honesty the way she seems to be fixed in her own right I doubt it'd be easy for her to accept poker ... talking over and over might help, perhaps with ur minister present, parents etc ... depends on how much u like(d) her ...

However I will add this: if u truly like both that gurl and the game of poker enough and want to spend time with both there's always a way to make it work ... u just need to find it But all in all don't worry about such stuff too much and go with ur feelings ... end of the day u have to live with u either way, she doesn't

Regardless of wether or not poker is a sin, a person who would be having a problem with me playing poker based upon the fact that it isn't an honest way to make money, is a person who I will have many more arguments with about many more subjects.

The church is slowing the overall world progress by disallowing religious people to think and act freely. Can you imagine how much of brain power is lost world wide due to religions? Instead of thinking for future these people do honestly believe in talking snakes and (maybe) Santa Claus.

Another option if you are patient is to make money off poker , then offer her trips and clothes and stuff and lets see if she refuses them because they are dirty money!
