Preflop call is fine.

Flop check call is good.

There is only a point raising the turn if you expect to have any fold equity. If you don't expect opponent is ever folding your only option is to flat turn and try to hit.

River should be a pretty straightforward fold imo. Would not try to bluff-catch vs overbet here.

Yeah, fair point.

I think at the time I was also thinking about doing it because I wanted to try and get money into the pot in case my SD completed, but I guess in the long run that's -EV as we aren't folding out many hands and will only hit maybe 1/4 times, right?

Better to flat, try and hit and then get value on the river which we might well do if he's so aggressive anyway

Building the pot when you have a good draw is definitely beneficial. You should think of it as a secondary benefit though; on it's own it's usually not a good enough reason. There needs to be another main reason, i.e either value or for fold-equity.
