Nice coaching, at least the 4.3 word I could hear X(

Do you recall the Kx(s) hand heads up? The board was very low (with a small pair?) and an A. He checked behind on turn. Obviously, check-folding is rarely an option. Is bet/fold an option? Opponent dependent I guess...

/Johan = :f_confused:

Hi all, Here's that quiz link I mentioned about.

Hey Yohan, yeah sry about your luck. tbh, I was pretty happy it worked for me since my flash player recently updated. Hopefully they'll release another update soon, and perhaps that will fix the problem.

That KX hand, check/folding is still an option. Against a player who frequently double or triple barrels sometimes they don't always incorporate check turn/bet river as a bluff into their play. If they had a hand they wanted to bluff with they often would bet the turn. Against such players we can see folding would make a lot of sense.

Betting the river is optional, but unfortunately I'm not completely sold on it in that spot. At micros I expect players to play passively with value hands and so theres less value in a bet, especially if he'll check back lots of weak made hands when we check but will occasionally bluff (as may well be the case against this villain).

Against a raise I would really want some special opponent to bet/call K-high. We're at the bottom of our value range and we shouldn't typically call his raise 100% of the time. This K-high value bet quickly would become the kind of hand we can justify folding.

Fixed Limit Beginner Coaching Update:

Later today PS members can Join our weekly Basic Coaching.

  • Last week you requested Homework! This week I deliver.

Your Assignment, should you choose to accept it:

  • Expect to spend 30 minutes - 1hr on the task.
  • Find any hand where you saw the Flop and Turn.
  • Create a new thread in the appropriate forum.
  • Start the title with "Counting Outs:...." (so that i can find it easily)
  • If you have trouble converting the hand check out this video

With the hand converted, Proceed as follows.

  • First: Determine the number of undiscounted outs that you hold on the Flop and turn. State them clearly.
  • Second: Determine the number of DISCOUNTED outs that you expect to have on the flop and turn. Explain why you are discounting these outs. What factors do you consider to be most important and why?
  • Third: Express any uncertainty or any questions that come up. Discuss any areas where you struggled to decide what the answer was. What did you do to solve those problems?
  • Finally, feel free to do whatever it takes to make this interesting and fun for you.

Some Examples:
You had how many outs???
Homework Time: Flop decision. How many outs?

I love your coachings (eventhough I can't always participate :f_frown: ). Now I have a question or idea. Is it possible to have a coaching or videoseries (like the idea of video's more because i can watch it multiple times ) like BogdanPS makes on database leakfinding or leakfinding in general? I'm often a bit lost on how to review my sessions or how I can find my leaks.

Hey pb, thx for the props! I have some good news for you!!

Would you believe, we're set to release a monthly podcast in the coming weeks? I'll very likely cover specific topics at the start of each Advanced Coaching and each of those topics may help you identify leaks.

The Basic Coaching Podcast will have a slightly different flavor, but still some high level Poker content. For instance, TerrorBlade is stopping by later today. Special Coachings like this are likely to be selected for the Podcast.

Productive session reviewing and leak finding are excellent skills to develop. These things take practice, but they are certainly good topics for future coachings.

Thx for stopping by.

Feedback zum Coaching am 24. Juli

Feedback for coaching, 24th July

Dear Dats, I am grateful for this private coaching! Thank you for analysing my hands :f_grin: and looked at the problems of my gameplay you discovered.

I'm also very glad, that you are answer my questions before and after the session. Soon I will perfekt my preflop play in some positions (raise more and three-betts with certain hands) and we'll see what happens.

I recommend anyone who wants to improve his game, coaching by Dats. Prior to coaching you should answer some questions about your poker game, so some work should be willing to do :).

After the coaching you are able to play better!

Many thanks to PokerStrategy for this special opportunity to get a coaching by professional poker teacher and player :f_p:!!!
