Hello, I will keep this short and sweat, I've been playing on and off since 2010, my last attempt at poker stardom ended after grinding my way from $150 - $330 sadly i had to draw of my money to to pay bills etc ... I have a $400 BR to start with now. My plan with this blog is to post up hands i believe are mistakes and write a review where i made a mistake and why, as a way of enforcing the correction in my brain to prevent me making the same mistakes over and over again :f_biggrin:.

Anyhoo thats all thanks for reading and good look.

Starting Bankroll $400

Hello MetalMonkey, good to see your still around.

I havent had the best start running 2 AK into AA around the blinds followed by a set of JJ beat by a set of AA.

This hand caught my attention, this guys stats has a 32 vpip, so he is loose, we should not cbet bluff vs loose players its just burning pennies, speacially being OOP.

Spoiler

SB: $4.93 (49.3 bb)

BTN: $17.59 (175.9 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with 8♦: 7♦:
2 folds, Hero raises to $0.30, BTN calls $0.30, SB calls $0.25, BB folds

Flop: ($1) J♠: 5♠: 4♠: (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.72, BTN calls $0.72, SB folds

Turn: ($2.44) J♦: (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN checks

River: ($2.44) T♠: (2 players)
Hero bets $1.74, BTN calls $1.74

True words :f_drink:
I have been burnt on a board and in this situation many times and would have passed the action on rather than betting out. My biggest leak before was to donk OP or trying to rep a flush against LAG like villain. So good post. Looking forward to reading your future posts and good luck at the tables.

This kind of hand has happened 4 times in the last few days, and ive lost them all, ive checked HM2 for simular spots and it doesn't seem to be a profitable spot to shove it, could this be a mistake.

This is vs an unknown player, how can we play profitably if we don't know there re-stealing range, i always see people say AK is all in preflop in 6 max but seriously how many people actually shove lighter then QQ our equity vs that isnt great.

I will alter my strategy slightly to 4bet fold OOP and call IP with AK and QQ.

This way weaker players will call 4bets with weak hands that they would fold to a 4bet shove, also i dont think they will be too hasty to shove over with trash

Some people will disagree and say you should. I too have read the same. Odds are slightly improved due to the suitability of the hand. In my opinion after experiencing horrific BR damage because of my aggression with AK it is best to treat this card as any other small pair or mid range card. Folding in a situation like this is ok.
Hesticus had a similar situation with this hand.

I know this is FR hand below, but I treat AK carefully for eg: VPIP of villain 44

Do you think it is better to call OOP with AK preflop and 3bet IP?

Here are a few hands i feel like i made some mistakes with.

Hey FrozenElf,

I can't believe I missed the start of your new blog! Glad you're back, in any case.

Not sure if I can be of any help discussing your hands, since I'm not playing NL Hold'em cash anymore, but I'll certainly stick around to show my support and maybe give some general advice, whenever I have something useful to add.

Best of luck on your new journey! :f_drink:

Here is 2 hands,

Hand 1 - Calling a a 2nd bet with a weak hand MPWK is weak/trash we should fold especially a 3/4 pot size, there are times when we can call vs agro players that bluff a lot, also i dont like the line i took, i think betting the flop is probably the best option since our hand is vulnarable to over cards.

It seems NL 25 is very aggressive, especially around the blinds and there is a lot of floaters with trash so i am designing my own ranges since the strategy im using doesn't seem to be very effective

UTG -MP1 - 88+ AQ+ AJs KQ KJs
CO-SB 22+ AT+ KT+ K7s A2s

I have tried to design this around restealers mostly so i can 4bet a large amount of my range

I believe this is a mistake, in pot controlling the T on the turn is a danger card and we no longer what to play for stacks, ok yeah we can get called by 2 pair sometimes, but even some of them might find a fold. This is an area i can do with some improvement when them danger cards come i need to slow down.

Everything's fine over here, thank you. I also started a new blog a few months ago, in case you haven't seen it yet, but it's mostly ramblings because I'm not really grinding anymore. :f_biggrin:

I definitely like your decision to decrease the amount of tables from eight to four (were you cascading tables or did you use a second monitor?). There is just no need to force things. In my opinion, you could even consider dropping one or two tables more, if you think this could help. If you're comfortable enough with four tables, though, then by all means, go ahead and grab that extra profit.

I played 2 sessions at 4 tables i seemed to handle them ok, i had a $86 profit and $56, i seemed to be making some very good plays extracting extra value where i could. Ill stick at 4 for a bit and see how it go's.

Ill folllow your ramblings then :f_biggrin:.
