IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 3rd WEEK UPDATE

Yea my plan is not really working. I manage to get quite a lot of tickets from satelites but those satellited tournaments are not really working for me. I know that volume is necessary and on long run it will be super profitable but I don't know how long can my BR wait. Now I drop realy low and just wait for some MTT finalo table to blow up my BR. Start to play even $0.27 MTTs.I basically hope on some deep run on satellited tournaments.

I also take a look of some good MTT players on Sharkscope to get familiar with variance and it can be really brutal. For example Jaime (#jaimestaples) has really brutal downswing from September till November when he lost around 42k and then at the end of the year manage to get 2 great results. So tournament poker is really unpredictive and hard job in terms of mental toughness.

Jaime graph in last year:

Yea it is little bit different because he plays high stakes and I micro stakes, but variance is everywhere and no one is immune of it. It will hit everyone. Some of them are hit at the begining some of them in the middle and some of them at the end of the year. What is important is to know how to handle it. I think that volume is probably the best think to handle it, but it should be mixed with right amount of studying. How to mix studying and playing time? I am not sure. Right now I just play a lot. I know that those first 3 places are not far away for me. I just need little bit of luck.

Right now my luck is more of unluck. Especially in situations that matters. I manage to get stack for first 20 places in the tournament at the begining of the tournament, but when it start to matter that you have big stack, I get unlucky. Can't win flips when I am 54:46 favourite (PP against over cards). I know that I can win a tournament. But when?

If this challenge succeed then I can succeed in everything. That is for sure. Well if I look at it it can be done even in one day if I win right MTT (Sunday Storm ;) ). So there is still time to do it. But I don't have time till end of the year to wait on some results. I have bills to pay. Because of that I need to grind, grind and grind. Bring my BR to 1k and then start to study different ranges and other concepts of that beutiful game called tournament poker.

Progress so far in 2016 BR Challenge:
- this is my 2nd update of the week

AFTER 3rd WEEK UPDATE

This week conclude in a profit. First profitable week from the begining of the challenge. Not really much because I am playing very low BI tournaments but I will get back to higher ones soon. First win is not far away. I feel it.

Satellites are nice to me for now. Manage to get quiet a lot of tickets including 2 Sunday Storm tickets for $0.33. Play that tournament and I was basically card dad for a long time. And best hands didn't hold to the river. But this is poker. It would be probably verry weard to win it right now. I probably even wouldn't know what to do with all that money.

Very interesting hand early in the tournament:
Poker Stars $10+$1 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t40/t80 Blinds - 9 players
DeucesCracked Poker Videos Hand History Converter

UTG+2: t5000 62.50 BBs
MP1: t4880 61 BBs
MP2: t9070 113.38 BBs
CO: t12057 150.71 BBs
BTN: t8280 103.50 BBs
SB: t5560 69.50 BBs
Hero (BB): t4300 53.75 BBs
UTG: t6288 78.60 BBs
UTG+1: t4402 55.02 BBs

Pre Flop: (t120) Hero is BB with Q♥ T♥
7 folds, SB raises to t160, Hero calls t80

Flop: (t320) A♣ K♦ J♥ (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks

Turn: (t320) J♣ (2 players)
SB bets t160, Hero raises to t371, SB calls t211

River: (t1062) A♦ (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks

And hand that costs me tournament:
Poker Stars $10+$1 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t125/t250 Blinds + t25 - 9 players
DeucesCracked Poker Videos Hand History Converter

CO: t3731 M = 6.22
BTN: t13357 M = 22.26
SB: t9238 M = 15.40
BB: t13853 M = 23.09
UTG: t9390 M = 15.65
UTG+1: t10227 M = 17.05
Hero (UTG+2): t2243 M = 3.74
MP1: t6563 M = 10.94
MP2: t3507 M = 5.84

Pre Flop: (t600) Hero is UTG+2 with A♥ 6♥
2 folds, Hero raises to t2218 all in, 2 folds, CO raises to t3706 all in, 3 folds

Flop: (t5036) Q♦ 4♥ 9♦ (2 players - 2 are all in)

Turn: (t5036) 8♥ (2 players - 2 are all in)

River: (t5036) 9♣ (2 players - 2 are all in)

Month ended and here is another one. Last one was not succesfull at all. I didn't manage to get to GoldStar, didn't complete hand posting challenge and made a loss. So I can tell that it was terrible one. Not really best start of the year. I can't do much about profit part and status chase also not much, because I need to step down. But there is absolutely no excuse on failing hands posting challenge. It should be some punishment for that. I decide to punish myself with no day off untill I catch up what I miss. So no day off untill I post 15 hands alongside with new ones.

SIDE CHALLENGE FOR FEBRUARY:
- post 1 hand every working day on the forum
- evaluate 1 hand every working day on the forum
- became GoldStar till 27th of February

I can allow to miss GoldStar status, but I must not miss on posting and evaluating challenge. It all depends on me with those two so there is absolutelly no excuse of not compliting it. This will basically means that I will need to post more than one hand per day since I must chatch up previous posting challenge.

What else is comming that month?
I am moving to new apartment in Ljubljana with my girl. I probably won't do it since new one is smaller but my girl will have much closer to her job so I need to adapt to her. She is really patiance with me so it is right to do that for her.

Another thing is that I really need to do something about my health. And I don't mean that I am often sick, but I am getting fat. Also 16h of seating per day is really bad. I can't afford standing station right now, but will look after it if I get oportunity. What I can do is to just stand for at least 15min per every session or even at least 5min and it will be much more than now when I don't stand at all. Ok I do stand durring breaks. I even start doing active breaks (10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups and 1min of running at same spot). Also start going on longer walks after breakfast. But will need to start running in near future to get best results. Only problem right now is that I have almost no time for doing anything else but playing.

I think that it is enough for now. More stuff will came in next update. Bee good and crush at tables!

Progress so far in 2016 BR Challenge:
- this is my 1st update if the week
- current BR: $85,77 & 280,63 SC
- current profit: -$45,06 (Sharkscope)

IN THE MIDLE OF THE 4th WEEK

It is more before week update but still.

Yea my slump continous. I made one more change for my BRM. I probably made a mistake by just playing sattelites with 100 BRM. It seems that I need at least 300 BRM for that strategy to work. But I try it and see how it works. So when I will have enough big BRM I will go back to it. But for now I will play sattelites for tournaments that I ordinary play like $0,55 bounty builder and the big $0,55.

Also I find how I will spend Stars Coins. I will use them for Saturday Micro Sattelite. BI is 33 SC and it is soft and not so long. So it is possible to get better return on 1 SC than $0,01. I get 3 tickets for 264 SC what gives me much more than $0,01/1SC but we all know that this is not the case on the long run. But still I think that it will give me more $ than if I just buy cash reward in store.

What else. I stop using Jivaro for now. I need to step up with grinding and I can easly play 12 tables if I don't have Jivaro running. Time is really not my friend right now so I need to step up with grind.

Grrr. I don't know when this will end and I will get to FT at least on some MTT. This is going really tooooooo long. Brutaly long. But will do it. Have faith.

Progress in 2016 BR Challenge:

AFTER 4th WEEK UPDATE

Another loosing weeek This is really shity. Am I even winning player? I don't think that I play as bad as my results show. But when it will turn around then? Alot of questions on which I can't find answers. I just need to go over that and they will appear by themselfs. Need to keep faith and keep grinding. Improving my game is really issue lately for me. I just keep playing and watching twitch poker. Mostly Jamie but tonkaaaa and coimbra are also great to watch, ask question and learn from them. I take more care about coimbra since he is playing on my stakes my games and he will have most relevant answers and more dirrect ones. So this is basically my learning in last days.

Posting and evaluating hands is not something that I am doing lately as my February goal say. Need to correct that but my day looks like that:

10:00 wake up, breakfast, take a look on PokerStrategy and Poker News what is going on in poker world, go out with my dog, take a shower
11:00 take a quick look of hand or two in PT and see if Coimbra is playing and watch him on twitch, asking questions and look how I will play in spots, try to understand why he is playing different, ... I am not just watching but learning
14:00 start grinding 12 tables
23:00 lower tableing to 4 tables, turn on twitch and look for Jaime, tonkaaaa, Matt or Kevin (same as with coimbra)
4:00 end of session and go to bad

So there is definitely time to at least 1 evaluation and posting. So there is no exccuse not to do it. I am just more attracted to twitch right now than posting hands and commenting them. But will take mondays off because updating challenge take some time and mondays are usually not good grinding days for me, so I will do learning staff then to catch up with my goals. Hope I don't fail on that.

Progress in 2016 BR Challenge:
- this is my 1st update of the week
- current BR: $56,44 & 390,63 SC
- current profit: -$72,02 (PokerTracker4)

I don't think that PT is doing good job on counting my games, because Jivaro crashed my PS client several times, my comp just shot down one time and I close PS client one time becasue "find player" search doesn't work. Also number of played games tracket from SharkScope are different to those from PT. So I really doubt that he is correct. But I will keep taking results for profit from the one that shows less profit.

Hey man, i feel your struggle, i have been there myself. I can suggest you to check out book called Mental Game of Poker 1&2 by Jared Tendler and watch this Jared Tandlers Masterclass
Looking at your schedule, its too insane for it to be productive, concentrate on improving your game not mindlessly grinding 12 tables for 8+h, quality over quantity. Same goes for twitch, it can help, but it can also hurt your game, especially if you are watching while playing, because you are neither focused on playing nor "learning". I think you have the right approach to learning at twitch, thinking what you would do differently, but the problem is that you are 5 minutes behind, so your communication with streamer ends up being quite poor, even if he gives you an answer, you should have another 2 questions about it, but again you have to wait for an answer for 5 minutes. There are better learning methods out there, f.e. live coachings here on pokerstrategy, find a poker buddy that you can study together, watching hands talking poker etc., you can do that even on this forum and if you dont have get yourself HRC or icmizer its a must have tool for mtt player.
Good luck, hopefully something can help you a bit from what i suggested.

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 5th WEEK UPDATE

Thanks @dizzydanny and @rufus433 for your support. Yea I am not really book guy. I listen Mp3 version of this book and also Eightfold Path to Poker Enlightenment. Also verry good thing. And believe me that I am not tilted because of the results. I can't tell that I don't curse when I am getting 5 river badbeats in same minute. But I know tht this is the process that I must go through. Everything what is important are good decisions. And twitch also help me with that. To see how those high stakes players deal with it and that they are also going through that over and over again. And they still makeing great results.

HRC I have for almost 2 years constantly. Bought 15 months subscription. And I am using it every day. I realise that I was too tight with my calls, because I came from 6-max SNGs where is ICM important from the first hand. But because of that I have good results when I came on final table in those 180-man SNGs. I am learning but not as much as I should. I know that. But it is problem because I need results to pay my bills. Because of that I am playing over 10h. I know that this is not good. But at my current situation I can't doo much but just play a lot to vercame varinace. On micros I think is enough to know FGS (future game simulation) for final table, ICM for pay jumps and Chip EV to get ITM. Off course that I am not expert on those, but 90% of the opponents that I am playing aginst right know, don't even know what is difference between those 3 things. So my knowladge should be good enough so I can study 1h/day and play over 10h right now. When I get higher I will decrease playing time. For Sure. But with current situation I can't do much but grind, grind and grind.

Recently download also trial version of Flopzilla and start learning with it. Great tool, but unfortunately I can't go further then flop because of trial version.

Also my subscription for Sharkscope expired, so I am left only with PT for now.

AFTER 5th WEEK UPDATE

Interesting week is behind me. a lot of ups and downs. I start to be active on hand evaluations. I will answer to all of the hands that came to evaluation forum. Because of that I will not put here what hands I answer. Problem is that I didn't put out any yet. Currently I am working on ICM spots before bubble and on money jumps. I recognize that I was too wide with open shoves for less than 3bb. Especially on the bubble. I was really astonished when I saw that I can be so tight even with 2bb big stack. It is really interesting thing. Also pay jumps are really verry important thing. It is true that pay jump in 180-man SNG from 19th to 18th place is just 0,30% but if you look at $/h difference it is really brutal. And absolutely terrible not to take it and bee too wide. And I must admit that I was too wide. It was like I am ITM and now just go for big score. But is not complitely like that. So I need to take it more, how to say, siriously.

Next thing that is happening is that I will move to another appartment at the end of the month and this will mean that I will miss at least 1 day because of that. But I am putting out hours, so I am not affraid of that. And day off will do good job for me. To get little bit away from comp.

What about results? Yea. At the verry end of the grinding day came result that will give me chance to get back to stakes that I need to play. And it came just because I need VPPs to complete at least one step challenge on Stars. What happen was that I was short with VPPs and $0,50 SNGs was not starting quickly enough after midnight. So I was forced to play 2 $2,50 180-man SNGs to complete challenge. I win one get VPPs, get 1k SC's and build BR to over $160.
What is my plan with that? I will go back to $2,50 180-man SNG's. I need to have verry aggro BRM because of financial situation. I woudn't do it if it not be necesary. But I was beating that limit and I think that I can survive. I have around 20% ROI at the moment. I just hope for little bit of luck at my first session. But will step down if I fall under $100. Because I don't wanna bust my roll.

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 6TH WEEK

Just quick update and back to work. First try on $2.50 180-man SNG didn't go well. Lost around $50. I stop registering before I get to $100 big BR. It was a lot of set-ups and simillar things. Monday as Monday. Bad as always. But I get some of that Monday lost back and now my BR is around $130. So good enough for playing $1 MTT's. Also it is good that Pokerstars has daily promotion, which brings me $7 and 2 ALL-IN Shoutout tournament tickets.

But there is another issute that I have with PT. It doesn't track tickets from Saturday Micro sattelites. It recognize them as StarsCoins tournaments, but don't track if I get ticket. Because of that winnings will not be right. But anyway I am tracking what is says on my PS Cashier.

I hope that in this week I get back in full to $2.50 180-man SNGs. I am prepared to grind them a lot, so my ROI will not have to be very high. Just aroung 10% and this is definitely achievable.

Ok lets go back to work.

AFTER 6th WEEK UPDATE

Just quick update, because I am already late with my studying and grinding.

Because of moving to other appartment, I will miss some days. Probably at the end of that monnth and start of March. I don't know how will be with internet in those days, because I need to move that too and it will take some time for sure. But will see. I have back up in mobile internet. But is definitely not as good as this one.

What is going on poker wise? I keep trying to hit that win on $2,5 180-man SNG's to get full in with them. Set $125 mark in my BR. When I get over that I register to $2,50 180's. Also because of that I am little bit down. But will keep trying and I think that win is really close. Useally when I played from 50 to 75 games, I get at least one deep run. And I already played around 50 tournaments. So it is close. And my move back to those tourneys.

Time is really not my friend lately, so bee good and stay strong!

Just a quick update. I am on mobile net because of move to another city and can't do it much. Only 1GB/day. And also my girl uses it. So I can't realy play. Don't wanna to lost it in the midle of the session. I hope that from tomorrow I will be able to go for normal session.

Ok. What happen? I also start to play some PLO Hi/Lo. But it is just for fun and don't wanna get into it more seriously. Make some cents in no limit Omaha Hi/Lo Zoom tables. But nothing seriously. Again done some Cashoout and because of that my BR is smaller. But I get lucky and won $1 Spin&Go with 25 multiplayer.

AFTER 8th WEEK UPDATE

It was interesting week and at the end very succesfull. But let me start at the begining.
Moving to another apartment in capital city of Slovenia (Ljubljana) was easy mostly because of my gf. She basically done everything. Pack our staff, cleane everything and even call whoever we need for everything to be done. So I need to be really tankfull for all that. I was basically just put our stuff into car.
Because of that I have more time for grinding, but it was not much of success. I am in position when I must grind a lot to get enough for bills. She doesn't understand poker at all, but she support me. It is really blassing to have that kind of girl.

So yea. Beginning of the week was not really good, but end was amazing. I believe that I can do it. That I can win a tournament. And I did it. I get 1st in bigger $0,55. I must admit that I was getting good hands when I need them the most. But this is probably necessary if you wanna win MTT. And this win came in the crucial time and on interesting day. My birthday.

I was really hoping that I will increase my BR as soon as possible so I will get back to $2.50 180-man SNG's. I know that I can have at least 12% ROI there and this, with big volume, will give me enough for living costs. I really don't mind grinding every day, untill my financial situation is better and my BRM is much more conservative.
It is really crucial to have BR where you can play your game and not cashing out and by that decreasing your BR. Because of that I will increase my BRM from 100 BI strategy to 200 BI. Only for $2.50 SNG's I will have lower BRM. But just because I need to be aggressive and keep playing them because 50 BI "downswing" is something that you should expect basically every day if you play them 100/day.

Progress in 2016 BR Challenge:
- this is my 1st update of the week
- current BR: $717,48 & 1343,63 SC
- current profit: $600,71 (PokerTracker4)

Progress in side Challenge:
- didn't evaluate hands from last days
- GoldStar chase 18,74VPP/2500VPP

WOW - i did not know that such small Tourneys can produce so big price pools. Pride yourself in saying that you beat almost 10k players!

Just continue with this performance with bigger tourneys :-)

Thanks @SvenBe. Yea overall I don't think that I make some bigger mistakes. Maybe I was too tight in some spots. But good card distribution definitely helps. I think that I get AA 5 times when we was already deep and also I take it down with AA when opponent open shove with ATo. So yea I can't complain about hands. I lost big pot on FT bubble with PF all-in with AA and almost been bubble boy, but at the end everything gone whell for me.
I will do my best to get better and done good results also on higher limits, but first of all I need to boost my BR so I will be able to play them.

Oh and yea I forget to mention that I get seat for that tournament for $0,11 :f_cool:

AFTER 9th WEEK UPDATE

As always time, time and time. Don't have a lot of it. For everything that I need to do. Day should be like 30h long and not just 24. And my energy should also be higher. But it is as it is. My short term goal is to be able to play micro SCOOP events. Still have time till May to get my BR big enough for those events. I have no intention to play every event. Just NL events and for those I need less then 1k. I think that last year they costs around $850. Will try to save that amount and then invest it on those tourneys or build big enough BR so I will already play up to $30 MTT's. But yea. It will be busy rest of March and April.
And March is already verry intensive, because I will try to get to GoldStar till the VIP tournament for GoldStar+ starts, which will be 5 days before month end. Because of that I need to do arund 180VPP's per day.
Also find a guy from Slovenia, who have 80% ROI on $2.50 180-man SNG's over 1500 games nd he is 24 tabling. Yea crazy. Like Chuck Norris and Phil Ivey in one person. He know that he was probably lucky most of the time, so he decide to continou to grind them to see what kind of ROI he will have on longer run.

BR is again smaller, because of cash out. You can see taht this year I made only around $300 and this is definitely not even near enough for getting through live in Slovenia. So I will need to cash out more than I will leave for grinding. I cash out more than 50% of that prize and left my BR with just $300. It seems that I would get to 40k profit before I will have 10k in my BR.

Progress in 2016 BR Challenge:
- this is my 1st update of the week
- current BR: $320,03 & 2029,63 SC
- current profit: $609,88 (PokerTracker4)

Progress in side Challenge:
- evaluated all hands from
- GoldStar chase 361,10VPP/2500VPP

AFTER 10th WEEK UPDATE

It is very profitable week after me. Build up my BR to over 900. So why I don't have it? Because of cash out. For next couple of weeks, I hope just for couple of days, I will let up just $750, which is 300 BI's for stakes that I play and I can make enough $ for my living expences. I decide to start building my living BR from that point on. $750 is big eoubh BR to make enough $/month for living expences and with Stars Coins I will make it even bigger.

Plan with living and Poker BR:
- start building living BR, so it will cover my expences for about 6 months (6k€)
- build Poker BR with SC's

And this will hurt my BR challenge at the begining but it will help me to continue my journey.

I have also some issues with PT4, because yesterday I start day with $750 and end it with $717,82 but PT4 says that I made a loss of around $90. Probably it doesn't take into accunt some of the bountys.

I start to look for some coach that is playing same formats that I do and make a contact, but more of that when (if) I take first lesson. But my first choice is definitely always IvicaIliev77, because he is amazing. But I wanna also take some coachings from someone that plays MTT's and(or) 180's regulary.

Despite good things in poker, I stil have issues with internet connection. When I moved to new appartment, I also need to moved internet connection. Company where I order it, didn't do it yet. I am still on mobile net which is restricted to 1GB per 24h and costs 1€ per 24h. So yea I am paying for that and at the end of the month I will get bill from company that I order it. Am little bit mad about the situation. Just hope for quick solution of it.

Progress in 2016 BR Challenge:
- this is my 1st update of the week
- current BR: $717,82 & 4722,63 SC
- current profit: $1110,08 (PokerTracker4)

Progress in side Challenge:
- evaluated all hands on tournament evaluation forum
- GoldStar chase 1039,37VPP/2500VPP
